From a press release:

“One year after launching his hit Ethiopian-soul food spot, Doro Soul Food, Chef Elias Taddesse is popping up a new burger concept in the same space in DCs Shaw neighborhood. Mélange Burger brings Chef Taddesse’s beloved burgers back to DC diners with some new twists–and smashes.

Mélange Burger, which opens October 31st at 11 AM, will offer Taddesse’s take on smash burgers, served on fluffy house-baked French milk bread buns. The patties, with names like Le Royale, The Oklahoma, and the McDowell, are made from locally sourced dry-aged beef from Maryland’s Sassafras Farm, which Taddesse grinds and blends in-house.

The burgers are topped with the Michelin-starred chef’s homemade condiments like jalapeño bacon jam, roasted garlic aioli, and butter chive Dijonnaise. (more…)

Thanks to J. for sending the update to the scuttlebutt from earlier this month:

“Signage just went up. Its a shame what they did to the building (some nice details are gone) But a bakery and coffee shop sounds good. Also a great spot for outside seating.”

Stay tuned for an opening date.
