MPD Releases Video of Person of Interest in Friday’s McDonald’s Bathroom Shooting

“The Metropolitan Police Department seeks the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest in reference to an Assault with Intent to Kill (gun) offense which occurred in the 600 block of F Street, Northwest on Friday, August 12, 2016.

At approximately 11:38 am, First District police officers were flagged down in reference to a shooting inside of an establishment. Officers entered the establishment and they located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Anyone who has information regarding this case should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.”

“The Metropolitan Police Department seeks the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in connection with a defacing public property offense that occurred in the Chinatown area of 7th and H Streets, Northwest.

Members of the First District responded to three separate incidents in the Chinatown area of anti-Semitic graffiti written on Chinese zodiac rat murals. The dates of the reported offenses are as follows:

· Monday, August 1, 2016
· Monday, August 8, 2016
· Tuesday, August 9, 2016

MPD reported:

“Shooting: 0202 hours, 2000 block of S Street, NW. No lookout”

as of 6:50am:

“DDOT reports all street closures associated to the police activity in the vicinity of 1700 block of Connecticut Ave NW are now OPEN to traffic. ”

There was a harrowing description posted on the Dupont Listserv based on “eyewitness accounts”:

“There are reports that one person was shot, possibly in the leg, but no reports on condition. There were 5 cars that sped the wrong direction (South) on 20th Street, guns blazing. Some shots are believed to have traveled East down S Street (based on a witness who was on the sidewalk in the 1900 block of S Street NW) as the gunfire started. He reported that one bullet sounded as though it traveled right by him and on down the street, while another one made a sound as though it had hit metal. (more…)

“More gun shots in Logan. Heard probably 20 shots fired very quickly — sounded like an automatic or semi-automatic weapon.”

“I can confirm. Heard them too. Very very close to 14th and Riggs.”

“Roughly a dozen cop cars and an ambulance roaming the neighborhood.”

MPD confirms:

“At approximately 855pm tonight, mpd units were called to the area of the 1300 block of Riggs Street NW for several gunshots shots heard. Anyone with information relating to this is encouraged to call 202 727 9099 or email me directly at [email protected]”

Shooting Homicide at 1:47am in Ivy City

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 900 block of Mount Olivet Road, Northeast on Wednesday, August 10, 2016.

At approximately 1:47 am, members of the Fifth District heard the sound of a single gunshot in the area of Mount Olivet Road and New York Avenue, Northeast and responded to the rear of the location. Upon arrival on the scene, members located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim exhibited no signs consistent with life and remained on the scene. (more…)

Police Close off Taylor between 4th and Illinois after Casing Found from Monday Night’s Shots Fired

On Monday night a reader reported shots were fired around the 4000 block of Illinios Ave, NW at 11:30pm. “6-8 shots fired”. The ANC rep responded in the comments:

“MPD confirms they responded to ‘sounds of gun fire’ but found no evidence or individuals needing medical attention.”

And now a reader updates us that shell casing were found Wednesday morning: “They found a bunch of casings on Taylor between Illinois and 4th this morning.”

Another reader reports: “Looked like at least 5 spots marked”.

According to one resident some officers on the scene “didn’t even know about the report of shots fired Monday”.

“Suspect Sought in Robbery and Assault with Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Abuse” in Blagden Alley

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating a suspect in connection with a Robbery and Assault with Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Abuse that occurred in the rear of the 900 block of M Street, Northwest (Blagden Alley).

At approximately 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2016, the victim was walking in the rear alleyway of the 900 block of M Street, Northwest, when the suspect approached, robbed and assaulted the victim with the intent to commit first degree sexual abuse.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 20-21 years old, 6’0” tall, with a chubby build and dark complexion. The suspect was seen wearing a black tank top t-shirt and gray sweatpants.

Residents Report Daytime Shots Fired around Franklin and Rhode Island Ave, NE

“I think I just heard at least 10 gunshots coming from the Franklin St and/or RIA Ave area. Its sounded very close. I don’t think it was fireworks. Very scary. Anyone else hear it?”

One resident responded confirming they also heard it and an additional resident wrote:

“My daughter and I had just rounded the corner of Franklin and 13th after going to the farmers market. We stopped on our porch because she had fallen asleep and minutes later we heard the shots on that corner–so close they had woken her up and she was crying. I grabbed her, abandoning our stroller and things, and went inside. I love our neighborhood but I have a hard time with the thought that she could have been killed by stray bullets on a nice afternoon walk.“

Check out this footage that clearly captures a young white guy dressed like some kind of hipster (Gilligan hat, puka-shell necklace, trendy t-shirt from Urban Outfitters & white jeans) who somehow gained entry into 2100 block of 15th Street NW’s locked and walled backyard and came up the stairs outside XXXXX’s kitchen and tried his back door knob to enter. He then walks next door and climbs the wall between us and then does who-knows-what as he drifts in the darkness and out of view. XXXXX said he also found the air let out of one of his car tires in his garage, the cap missing, and his car mirror bent inwards. He confirmed that his electric garage door was locked from the outside but his backyard entry door into the garage was unlocked (no need to lock it since it’s inside his walled backyard.) (more…)
