“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced an arrest in a fatal shooting that occurred in the 700 block of 16th Street, Northeast on Tuesday, September 13, 2016.

At approximately 5:26 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult male, unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where all lifesaving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 18-year-old Tesean Jermaine Ashe, of Southeast, DC.

On Monday, October 3, 2016, in the 1900 block of D Street, Northeast, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 41-year-old Antwan Horactio Buchanan, of Northeast, DC. Mr. Buchanan has been charged with Second Degree Felony Murder while Armed.” (more…)

“This morning [Tuesday] at approximately 10:20 AM an adult male subject pulled a knife and without provocation, stabbed two adults males both requiring hospitalization. Afterwards, the suspect walked away and was still armed until stopped by responding First Police District Officers in the 200 block of 5th Street, SE and held for identification purposes.

Our first stabbing victim was attacked without warning and stabbed twice. This victim was transported to a local area hospital by DCFEMS, conscious and breathing for treatment.

Our second stabbing victim just happened to be walking towards the suspect on the sidewalk in the 400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, SE when he was also attacked without warning and stabbed in the left chest area. This victim was transported to a local area hospital by DCFEMS, conscious and breathing for treatment. Both victims are expected to make a full recovery.

The adult male suspect stopped by our officers was positively identified and arrested. The weapon used was also recovered.

This was unprovoked attack on two innocent individuals in our community with law enforcement officers from the Metropolitan Police Department and the United States Capital Police in this immediate area.

The First Police District Command Staff, under the leadership of Commander Kane, would like to recognize the swift actions of our officers and officials from the First Police District that effected this arrest without incident and without a use of force and those that provided immediate medical assistance to and comforted the victims.

We would also like the recognize the assistance we received from members of the United States Capital Police who arrived quickly on this chaotic scene and assisted with securing evidence, maintaining a crime scene and canvassing for witnesses and CCTV Cameras along with us.”

“The Metropolitan Police Department’s First District Detectives Office announced an arrest in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife) offense that occurred in the 300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast on Tuesday, September 13, 2016.

At approximately 10:19 am, the suspect walked up to an adult male in the 300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast and stabbed him in the neck and hand. The suspect then walked up to another adult male, in the same block, and stabbed him in the chest. The suspect fled the scene but was quickly apprehended by officers in the 200 block of 5th Street, Southeast. A knife was recovered from the suspect.

Both victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

On Tuesday, September 13, 2016, 39-year-old Jerome Swinson, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife).”

“The Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in connection with an Assault with Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Abuse that occurred in the 1300 block of Perry Place, Northwest.

On Saturday, September 10, 2016, at approximately 7:00 am, an adult female encountered an unknown male suspect who pushed her down and attempted to sexually assault her.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 25-years-old, between 5’11” and 6’0” tall, 175 pounds, and with a full beard. He was wearing a black and gray cap, a black and red plaid shirt, and riding a bicycle.

“Shooting- Unit block of T Street NE

On Sunday, September 11, 2106, at approximately 7:45 pm, the victim observed the suspect running toward him at which time he began to run from the suspect. The suspect fired a pistol striking the victim one time. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Lookout: a black male, 5’”-5’8”, wearing a white tank top, dark colored jeans with a red shirt covering his face armed with a handgun.

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 2300 block of 11th Street, Northwest on Monday, September 12, 2016.

At approximately 12:26 am, members of the Third District responded to a call for a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. On Sunday, September 18, 2016, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 23-year-old Eric Garrett, of Northwest, DC. (more…)

“Alert: Police Involved Shooting at 3rd & M Street NW. Details forthcoming.”

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Internal Affairs Bureau responded to a police-involved shooting that occurred on Sunday, September 11, 2016, at the corner of 3rd Street and M Street, Northwest.

At approximately 4:30 am, an officer observed a motorcycle driving recklessly near the 1700 block of U Street, Northwest. A few minutes later, another MPD officer observed a motorcycle matching the same description near 3rd Street and M Street, Northwest. When the officer was exiting the passenger side of his marked police cruiser to stop the driver, the motorcyclist intentionally drove into the passenger door and the officer fired his service weapon.

The motorcyclist, identified as 31-year-old Terrence Sterling, of Fort Washington, Maryland, was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The officer involved in this incident did not sustain serious injuries and has been placed on administrative leave.

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Second District announced an arrest has been made in connection with an Assault With Intent to Kill offense that occurred Saturday, September 10, 2016, in the 1300 block of Connecticut Avenue, Northwest.

At approximately 3:20 am, a male suspect assaulted two people and shot a third person outside an establishment in the 1300 block of Connecticut Avenue, Northwest. After a brief foot pursuit, officers apprehended the suspect and recovered a handgun.

The shooting victim sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to an area hospital where he is listed in critical but stable condition.

27-year-old, Ryan Demtric Matthews, of Northwest, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Kill while Armed, Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and two counts of Simple Assault.”

“Robbery Force and Violence (CLOSED CASE) 400 K ST NW. Our complainant reported to First Police District Units that this morning at approximately 10:00 AM while walking in the 400 block of K ST NW she was passed by two individuals. As they passed the two turned abruptly and attacked her from the rear, punching her to the face and taking her bag. The complainant received facial injuries as a result and was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. Both suspects fled the scene on foot and witnesses flagged down a passing 3D Cruiser who immediately voiced a lookout for the two suspects running, both with backpacks. 1D Units quickly converged on the area and a full canvass was being performed when the two suspects were spotted that matched the description and both were stopped at the corner of 5th and Massachusetts Ave. NW. 1D Detectives responded and coordinated investigative efforts and as a result both suspects were positively identified as those that Robbed and assaulted our victim. “Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announced four arrests have been made in reference to the following offenses:

* Armed Carjacking (Gun), Assault with Dangerous Weapon (Gun), and Leaving After Colliding: On Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at approximately 8:40 pm, in the 900 block of G Street, Northwest, three suspects approached the victims, one of the suspects brandished a handgun, and ordered them out of the vehicle. The suspects then took vehicle and fled the scene. A few blocks away, the suspects were involved in a traffic accident with an unrelated driver. As the driver attempted to call the police, the suspect with the handgun, threatened the driver. The suspects fled the scene in the stolen vehicle. CCN: 16-150-885.
* Attempt to Commit Robbery: On Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at approximately 9:20 pm, in the 300 block of 7th Street, Northwest, the suspects approached the victim, who was in his vehicle; one of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded his property. The victim fled in his vehicle and did not surrender his property. CCN: 16-150-919.

* Carjacking (Attempt): On Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at approximately 10:00 pm, in the 900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast, the victim was stopped in his vehicle, when four suspects approached him. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded his property. The victim fled in his vehicle and did not surrender his property. CCN: 16-150-981.

* Carjacking (Attempt): On Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at approximately 10:10 pm, in the 900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast, the victim was stopped in his vehicle, when four suspects approached him. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded his property. The victim fled in his vehicle and did not surrender his property. CCN: 16-150-934.
On Wednesday, September 7, 2016, the following suspects were arrested and charged as listed below:

* 18-year-old Martrail Cunningham, of Southeast, DC, for two counts of Carjacking and Attempted Robbery

* A 16-year-old Juvenile Female, of Southeast, DC, for Attempted Robbery.

* A 16-year-old Juvenile Male, of Southeast, DC, for Armed Carjacking, two counts of Carjacking, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon(Gun), Attempted Robbery, and Leaving After Colliding.

* 19- year-old Keshard Thompson, of Southwest, DC, for Armed Carjacking, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Leaving After Colliding.”
