“The Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit seeks the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest in reference to an Armed Robbery (Gun) and a First Degree Sexual Abuse offense which occurred in the rear of the 600 block of Pickford Place, Northeast, on Saturday, May 6, 2017.

At approximately 1:20 am, the suspect brandished a gun and demanded the victim’s money. The suspect then forced the victim into the alley, at the listed location, and sexually assaulted her. (more…)

Two Victims Shot Just After 10pm in Truxton Circle Monday Night

“On May 22, 2017 at approximately 10:04 p.m. 5D officers responded to the unit block of Bates Street, Northwest for a shooting. Upon arrival the officers found 2 adult victims with gunshot wounds. The victims appeared stable and were transported to an area hospital for treatment. No suspect look-out was given. Any persons with information please contact the Metropolitan Police at 202-727-9099. Additional information will be forthcoming.”

15-year-old Arrested for Alleged Stabbing and Armed Robbery (Knife) in Columbia Heights

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District announced an arrest has been made in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife) and an Armed Robbery (Knife) that occurred in the Third District.

· Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife): On Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at approximately 3:30 pm, in the 1400 block of Park Road, Northwest.

o The victim was approached by two suspects. One of the suspects brandished a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times. The suspects fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. This case remains under investigation.

· Armed Robbery (Knife): On Monday, April 3, 2017, at approximately 4:40 pm, in the 1000 block of Irving Street, Northwest. (more…)

“we literally just installed our Ring video doorbell yesterday and our house was burgled early this morning”

A reader reports Sunday:

“We literally just installed our Ring video doorbell yesterday and our house was burgled early this morning. We live on 14th St between Taylor & Upshur. The man just walked in the front door (forcing the lock with a pocket knife) walked into our home and took a laptop. Our dog was right there but in her crate. She barked and woke me up, but I didn’t realize anything was missing till 2 hours later. Have contacted Police and filed a report but wasn’t sure if there was anything else proactive to do? I’ve attached some pictures in case anyone recognizes him.

FYI, just an update that we miraculously recovered the laptop this morning. It’s a crazy story but we located it 4 hours after the burglary. We located it via the ‘find my mac’ feature. We went to the vicinity (by Fort Steven) and called police. In the meantime my wife randomly asked some kids we saw near where the laptop was located and they recognized the man. He apparently showed up that morning bloodied and seemingly high. They called an ambulance and when the cops showed up he had a warrant and was this arrested. I guess everything he had was left at that families house so they brought my laptop & charger out to us.

Still trying to actually get the computer unlocked & functioning, but glad to have it physically in my hands.”

Update from MPD:

“Around 10:45 am today, MPD responded to the sounds of gunshots in the 700 block of Upshur St NW. Arriving units found the adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital for the treatment of a non-life threatening injury. 4D detectives are investigating this case.

Dear FOX 5 DC Advertiser,

By advertising with Fox 5 DC (WTTG) you are supporting irresponsible reporting that is harming our community.

In July 2016, 27-year old Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich was brutally murdered on his way home. Since his death, far-right conspiracy theorists have tormented the Rich family.

This week, reporter Fox 5’s Marina Maracco published a report claiming that Seth was in contact with Wikileaks in the days preceding his murder.

According to National Public Radio: “There is no hard evidence that is true. In fact, further reporting has blown large holes in Fox 5 DC’s Monday report.”

Maracco, failed to confirm their story with the DC Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation or even the Rich family. The Fox5DC story has been debunked – and yet the station stands by their unsubstantiated report.

The Rich family has called for it to be retracted and those responsible for its publication to be held accountable. We agree, and hope you do too.

We call on you to stand with our community and pull all advertising from Fox 5 DC until they hold Ms. Maracco and her superiors, including News Director Paul McGonagle and Assistant News Director Kyle Carmean accountable for their actions.

We previously spoke about another alleged “office creeper”, I had no idea this was a thing, back in 2014.

A reader passes on from the Downtown BID:

“MPD has notified us that an office creeper previously known to the downtown area back in the area. The subject has changed his look as well cutting his hair and shaving his face. Recently Fairfax County Police had him involved in an office theft and credit card fraud. Unfortunately, MPD feels that it won’t be too long until he makes his way back into downtown and other parts of the city. As a precaution, please let your security staff know about this individual.

In addition, should they see him do not stop him, immediately dial 911 and allow MPD to respond so they can apprehend him.”

So if you see a dude in a plaid shirt hanging around the office cooler – beware. Also don’t leave your wallet in your desk.

17 year-old juvenile arrested for assault and armed robbery 11:45am Tuesday at 9th and Upshur St, NW

“On Tuesday, May 16, 2017, around 11:45 a.m., the victim was in the 4200 block of 9th Street, NW, when he was approached by two suspects one of whom assaulted him and the other brandished a handgun and took the victim’s property. Both suspects fled from the scene of the robbery. Based on the investigation conducted by the 4D detectives and the responding officers, an arrest was made of one of the suspects. This suspect was identified as a 17 year-old juvenile male of Northwest, Washington, DC. The detectives are working to identify the second suspect and are hopeful to make another arrest in this case.”
