The good news is that it sounds like everyone who was hurt is stable. Must suck to be both a piece of human garbage AND be terrible at whatever cowardly ish you were trying to pull off.

    “…thoughts and prayers…” – Mayor Bowser
Can’t tell if serious or just throwing a teensy bit of shade. Probably a combination of both.
In all seriousness though, I’m glad to hear the suspect was caught in the midst of the chaos. Props to the Capitol Police.

      I would certainly hope not.

You should be ashamed of yourself. I imagine you won’t be, but you really should be. Seriously. Please take a moment to reflect on the mindset that led to this comment. Are you happy with what that says about you?

        +1

Really reaching here. AA’s and many others have used that exact phrase for expressing condolences for ages.

      Scrutinizing condolences? smh

This is an absolutely terrible and cowardly act. Physical attacks against elected leaders are as dangerous to the stability of our democracy as the actions of the Administration (and the complicit Congress). We must stand up to threats to our system of government, regardless of the source. I’m no fan of Scalise, but there’s no room for throwing shade in this.

And no, Bowser wasn’t doing it. By suggesting it, you are.

    • Bobert

This is an exceedingly moronic statement.

Get a life. This is an extremely commonly used (perhaps over-used) phrase that people say when responding to a sad or traumatic event. If you are in this case thinking it’s not sincere, that’s probably in indication of *your* personal feelings, not the mayor’s.

My guess is that it had nothing to do with the fact that Bowser is A-A (as someone mentioned above), but rather a Democrat, and often when gun violence happens conservatives are all about the “thoughts and prayers” rather than passing legislation. Not my sentiment, so just guessing.

Don’t think Anonymous was very tactful here but there is a legitimate debate to have as to whether offering “thoughts and prayers” is actually harmful because it is often just a stand in for taking any action to prevent these types of incidents from happening in the future. There were tons of news stories about this debate after the last few mass shootings. People (often in a position to do something about the problem) offer thoughts and prayers and then throw up their hands as if nothing more can be done. There was a really great poem on the subject, that I cannot find right now. Someone even made an online game. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/jun/20/thoughts-and-prayers-online-game-guns-mass-shootings

So scary, I drive past this baseball field everyday, my nieces have played there. Glad everyone is stable.
