“This morning a citizen flagged down officers in the 600 block of 15th St, NE for a gun lying on the sidewalk. The officers recovered a black 9mm Semi-Automatic handgun, loaded, with one round in the chamber.

This is proof that with the citizens help and cooperation “We all” can make the city a safer place.”

“At approximately 5:44 PM, we received a radio run for Sounds of Gunshots and at 727 Decatur Place, NE. Several shell casings were found in the rear alley of the residence. There were rounds that penetrated the residence. Nobody was injured. Additional shell casings were also located on the street in front of the house. We are currently investigating.”

“Target said Tuesday that it has fired an employee who had been slipping cards with a white supremacist message into packages of diapers sent to customers across the country.

Target spokesperson Joshua Thomas said. “We have identified the source, and given this is a violation of our policies and our commitment to inclusivity, terminated the team member.”

“Last night at approximately 9:25pm there were sounds of Gunshots in the Unit block of O Street, Northwest. Four vehicles were struck by bullets. Evidence was recovered and the case will be investigated by the Fifth District Detectives Office. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Fifth District Detectives Office at 202-698-0660 or the MPD Command Information Center at 202-727-9099. Officers will be in the area so feel free to speak with one of them as well.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred in the 3500 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest.

On Thursday, April 5, 2018, at approximately 8:37 pm, members of the Fourth District responded to the report of an assault in progress at the listed location. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim, inside of an establishment, who had been assaulted. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. On Friday, April 6, 2018, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 33 year-old Yusef Turner, of Northwest, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”


From HRA:

“The Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA) is offering a $3,000 reward for information identifying the owner of a small dog left outside of the New York Avenue Adoption Center Wednesday evening. The dog was in a basket, double-bagged, with the bags tied shut, with a note stating that the dog was dead. Upon inspection by HRA officials, the dog was alive, but suffering from multiple ailments.

“We are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the person responsible for this heinous act” said HRA’s Vice President of Field Services Chris Schindler. “She was left to suffer and die a painful death. We hope this reward will motivate someone to come forward so that justice can be served.” (more…)

“20+ GUNSHOTS FIRED- so far, nobody found injured, 4800 blk 9th St NW at Delafield Pl NW-DC. Police have found approx. 20 shell casings, still searching for a suspect and/or any victims (none found as of yet).”

Michael reports also around 2:15pm:

“Fire at 1117 Fern St NW.  Looks like they just got it put down, it was in the right side of a duplex, that side looks like it got messed up pretty good, left side had had smoke coming through at te attic level and fire fighters when into that one and opened all the windows, big response Georgia Ave is shut down both directions between Elder and Fern.”

From MPD around 10pm Saturday night:

“Third District Officers are currently investigating the sounds of gunshots/destruction of property in the area of the 1100 block of Rhode Island Avenue NW. Responding units have found a vehicle with bullet damage, along with several spent shell casings. At this time, no shooting victims have been located.

Motorists in the area can expect traffic interruptions.
