Two Men Shot, One of Whom Died, around 10pm in Lamond Riggs

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Monday, May 7, 2018, in the 800 block of Oglethorpe Street, Northeast.

At approximately 9:52 pm, two adult male victims, suffering from gunshot wounds, sought treatment at an area hospital. The first victim sustained life threatening injuries. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The second victim received treatment for non-life threatening injuries. Further investigation revealed the shooting occurred in the 800 block of Oglethorpe Street, Northeast.

The decedent has been identified as 43 year-old George Johnson Jr., of Northeast, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”
