While canvassing the area, an Officer was flagged down by a vehicle occupied multiple times with the driver stating that he had a gunshot victim on board. The Officer followed the vehicle to Children’s Hospital where the gunshot victim was identified as juvenile Hispanic male, suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the right foot. Shell casings we believe related to this event were located in the 5900 b/o 13th Street N.W.

Around 8:30pm a reader reported to us:

“Numerous gunshots in or around LeDroit Park”

Another reader reports this morning “20+ rounds fired.”

Anyone else hear this?

Update from another reader:

“Massive barrage of gunfire in Ledroit Park around 9pm yesterday. When the gunshots kept going on so quickly for so long, I thought for a moment it must be fireworks because I’ve never heard gunfire so intense. But it wasn’t fireworks. It was really scary. Cops were on the scene almost immediately – they’ve had a heavy presence in the neighborhood recently. There were still about 7-8 cops in the park when I left for work around 7 this morning.”

Update from MPD via the LeDroit Park Listserv:

“At approximately 9:20 last night, we received multiple calls for the sounds of gunshots in the area 200 V, 4th/Elm and 300 V St. In addition, our Shotspotter detection system alerted to the sounds of gunshots. Our officers arrived and identified a vehicle that had sustained damage from bullets, along with multiple spent shell casings. We did not locate any victims on scene or at area hospitals, and no witnesses have indicated if they saw any people being shot at. One caller observed a white car flee from the area, but it is unknown if that was a suspect, potential victim or possible witness. We completed a report to document the incident, CCN 18-050178.

This morning, a resident coming out to their vehicle observed bullet damage to theirs as well, so we have updated the report to reflect the second vehicle.”

Watch your wallet! Thanks to Geri for sharing the heads up:

“if you’re being harassed, distracted, someone else might be stealing your wallet behind you. This happened to me in a busy Busboys and Poets yesterday, caught on tape. Also if you see this happening, say something (lady drinking wine next to me).

It was at 14 and V. The staff has seen them before. It was two guys working together. The man who was harassing me was prob 50, bald, 5,9, called himself Michael. I couldn’t watch the video I was so angry but the manager saw the guy behind me. I did not.”

Shawn notes: “Yup! Happened to me at Whole Foods.”

Ed. Note: Here is info on Saturday’s March For Our Lives Rally.

Like elected D.C. Council Member’s spewing anti-Semitic conspiracy theories – I really wish I didn’t have to post about this but we cannot pretend it didn’t happen. Thanks to all who messaged me the update from Monday’s Shots Fired at 14th and Upshur St, NW at 2:45pm. It was alluded to in the comments of the original post but here’s the full account from Julie Humphrey Vallelunga’s Facebook:

“There’s a bullet hole my child’s car seat. That bullet missed my neck by inches as I sat in my car at the intersection next to their school, waiting to pick them up a few minutes later. I saw the shooter a split second before my windshield shattered, completely unable to do anything. When I felt an immediate prick of pain, I had to wonder if I had been struck by flying glass or a bullet. (Just minor glass scrapes.) (more…)
