Lots of details all around here. The windows below the stained glass, I thought, were particularly unusual. In a good way…

I thought these were two cool looking pop ups from the Capitol Hill area. Not sure if they’re original construction or additions. Which do you like better?

Last Thursday I mentioned Tynan would open Friday or Saturday of this week. Well, thanks to all the readers who sent in word about the above sign. Friday it is!

New tavern coming to 501 8th Street, SE on Barracks Row. The alcohol license says it will be a tavern featuring regional and seasonal combinations of local seafood with recorded music. The occupancy is 49 with an additional 32 for the sidewalk cafe.
In the meantime check out the murals adorning the building after the jump. (more…)

If you haven’t stopped in to Aroma Bakery & Market, located at 1320 U Street, NW, you are in for a treat. They’ve added tons of pastry options. They even have canolis! The pastries come from Patisserie Poupon in Baltimore and the bread comes from LYONBAKERY. Many of the pastries are really like works of art. Per your request, they’ve also added some more seats and free internet. If you’d like any more changes just let them know in the comments as they are very open and receptive to your suggestions.

More photos after the jump. (more…)

This topic came up in our discussion of the IHOP. So I’m happy to share the results with CM Graham and see what can be done if there is significant support. For the record, I’m Jewish as well and think it would be a nice touch. I’d say it should only be up for a month though – say Dec. 15th – Jan.15th? Or something like that?

Hahaha. Good eye from a reader who found this costly typo. 4824 7th Street, NW fixer upper for $1,165,000…

I love Seaton Place in Bloomingdale, it seems like a very quiet block with beautiful homes. What do you think of this particular home? The “chef’s kitchen”? Does $614,777 seem reasonable for this 5 bed/3.5 bath?
