“Dear PoPville,
Any reason why the water fountains aren’t turned on? I’ve tried several parks on my running routes to include Dupont Circle, Mitchell Park and the dog park at the intersection of New Hampshire Ave and S Street NW. None of those fountains are on, and we’re clearly past winter. Any idea as to why?”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District seek the public’s assistance in locating a suspect and a vehicle in reference to Armed Robbery (Gun) and Assault With Intent to Commit Robbery offenses that occurred on Monday, July 3, 2023, in the First District.
Assault With Intent to Commit Robbery: At approximately 10:28 am, the suspect approached the victim, who was walking their dog, at Maine Avenue and 7th Street, Southwest. The suspect attempted to take the dog and assaulted the victim. After the failed attempt, the suspect fled the scene. CCN: 23-107-042
Armed Robbery (Gun): At approximately 10:30 am, the suspects approached the victim, who was walking their dogs, in the Unit block of V Street, Southwest. One of the suspects brandished a handgun, assaulted the victim, and took the victim’s dogs. The suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle. CCN: 23-107-016
The dogs are described as French Bulldogs. The male dog is 1 ½ years old and goes by the name of, “Uno.” The female dog is 5 months old and goes by the name of, “Cartier.” (more…)

“Metrorail celebrated the Independence Day holiday with preliminary ridership topping 410,000, a level not seen since 2015. With fare-free service after 5 p.m. and a boost in service to accommodate the influx of customers, rail ridership was up 61 percent over last year.
The fireworks on the National Mall, A Capitol Fourth Concert, and other holiday festivities, along with fans attending the Nationals game helped drive ridership. (more…)
