Our beloved Executive Chef, Fredy Lopez, passed away suddenly, leaving behind his loving wife, Silvia, and their two beautiful children. Fredy was more than just a chef; he was a mentor, a leader, and a true friend to all of us at Kirwan’s on the Wharf. Fredy was instrumental in shaping our restaurant since its inception in 2017. Starting as a cook, he quickly rose to become our Head Chef, bringing passion and dedication to every dish. His passion for his craft, his kindness, and his unwavering dedication to his team and guests made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. (more…)

I advise going into a store/office if there is one nearby and asking for help from someone (if you are outside.) If he continues to not leave you alone, you should consider calling the police. This is not normal behavior. You should have no guilt in protecting yourself after politely attempting to end the conversation. If he won’t leave you alone, your safety is paramount.

Lou’s City Bar has been closed for a few weeks for a “winter refresh” in Columbia Heights. Hopefully only temporary and not “temporary”…

Do you have any updates on Lou’s in Columbia Heights??

It was completely closed on Saturday afternoon, right before the NFL games were about to start.

I’ve heard from other friends they’ve been closed a lot recently (or perhaps closed permanently?)

It’s one of my favorite bars in the area so hoping it’s only temporary.”

Heads Up: Buses replace Trains on part of the Red Line this weekend

“Weekend track work: Buses replace trains between Medical Center and Van Ness on Red Line

On Saturday and Sunday, the Red Line will operate in two segments between Shady Grove and Medical Center and between Van Ness and Glenmont due to track maintenance.

Shuttle buses replace trains between Medical Center and Van Ness.

Crews will be replacing a switch in the area. (more…)
