Thanks to Jenna for sending the news about a Bluestone Coffee coming to 1150 Connecticut Ave, NW. Bluestone’s Website says:

“We’re on our way downtown to the bustling urban core of the capital. Rest your feet and watch the world go by at our new Bluestone Lane location – Dupont Circle, located at 1150 Connecticut Avenue. Situated amongst the bustling shopping promenade that surrounds, this new BL shares a home with Core Power Yoga, and neighbors an expansive spread of trendy retail stores in the heart of the city. 1413 K Street, NW

The liquor license placard for The Mirror (to be in the lower level) says:

“A new speakeasy Tavern. Seating Capacity of 50 inside. Total Occupancy Load of 100. The License will include an Entertainment Endorsement for the inside of the premises only.”

Take Two for a speakeasy at this location. The upstairs used to be Vieux Carre updates when we learn what becomes of that space too.

1333 19th St, NW just south of the metro

Shira reports:

“The Jamba Juice at Dupont Circle is closed with paper on the windows. You can see the remnants of the old Ben and Jerry’s peaking out from behind!

Also, Barry’s Bootcamp is right next door, and apparently they have a juice bar inside. Who knew? One of the trainers told me that the Jamba Juice is going to be a poke place.”

STAY TUNED.

Looking towards 108 Rhode Island Ave, NW via El Camino

More big, sad scuttlebutt – a tipster hears El Camino’s closing party is September 15. And those in the know say this is very likely happening.

“El Camino offers California-inspired Mexican food and drinks in Bloomingdale!” and opened up back in October 2014.

Confirmed:

“We are sad to announce that we have decided to close El Camino after dinner service on Saturday, September 15. (more…)

601 2nd Street, NE at F Street

Color me intrigued!! Thanks to Sandi for sending:

“It looks like Toscana Cafe on F & 2nd NE is becoming “Duet” Indian and Italian Flavors… def not a combo I’ve seen before. The food at Toscana wasn’t the best but they did have good lunch and HH specials. Should be interesting to check out this new place when it opens.”

3115 14th Street, NW at Kenyon

Thanks to Brian, Aman, Jess and all who messaged about the change coming to The Heights. Jess notes:

“The identity crisis of the Heights continues! First the destruction of the bar and the self serve beer, then the salad bar and pizza signs, then the corn dog appetizers, and now this… At this point it’s just funny.”

Ed. Note: Choong Man Chicken (& Seafood) opened up on H Street, NE in Spring 2017. Anyone know if it’s the same folks?

4203 Georgia Avenue, NW

I’ve always wondered how this space could still be vacant at such a prime corner. Think a cigar bar will do well here?

The liquor license placard says:

“New Class “C” Tavern that will serve as a cigar retailer serving spirits, wine, and beer in addition to tobacco products and other cigar-related products. The Tavern will have 100 seats inside, and a Total Occupancy Load of 100, and also a Summer Garden with 10 seats. Licensee is requesting an indoors-only Entertainment Endorsement to provide Live Entertainment.”

Georgia and Upshur Street, NW

STAY TUNED.
