“It was short lived but did you hear Tigerella in Western Market had their last day of business last week.”
Tigerella wrote on their IG:
“THE TIGER IS ASLEEP. We are very proud of what we did and we could not have done it without our incredible team, the heart and soul of Tigerella.
The lack of workers returning to the offices in our part of downtown DC has made our business model unsustainable. We have decided to pass the torch to an operator who can make it succeed.
Thanks to all who came to Western Market to visit us and our neighbors. Please continue to support small businesses!”

What a start to the year. First we heard about Mamma’s Bagels and then Call Your Mother and now our big week of bagel news continues with Bullfrog Bagels. I’m told:
“Our Chief Bullfrog, Jeremiah, just signed a lease and we will be opening up in Foggy Bottom! We’re aiming for a late winter opening, sometime before March 1st.
We will be in Western Market occupying what was Tigerella’s cafe.” [Ed. Note: The Tigeralla restaurant space next door will remain open.] (more…)

Founders and Chefs Solomon Johnson (AKA Chef Swoop) and Mike Woods perfected the California-based ghost kitchen business after spending an entire year only accepting take-out orders during the pandemic. This time allowed Chef Swoop and Woods to curate the combination of flavors in the exact way they wanted while honoring both of their backgrounds in Cajun Creole Southern and Caribbean. Headed by Chef Vincent Falcone and founded by the creators of Mount Pleasant Elle, the cafe menu includes coffee, baked goods, sandwiches and more. Complementing the cafe, the dining room advancement, adds fresh pizzas and rich pastas to the versatile menu. Tigerella is slated to start dinner service in early September.”
