Local culinary star and entrepreneur ​Daniella Senior​, known for her uber-popular ​Colada Shop​, and her partner, renowned mixologist Juan Coronado, are among the second wave of partners being revealed as new additions to the La Cosecha landscape.

The highly anticipated Latin market will soft open this summer at 1270 4t​ h​ Street NE, followed by a grand opening this fall featuring over a dozen businesses housed within more than 20,000 square feet of culinary, retail, entertainment and community space. The duo most recently worked together as managing partner and executive chef, respectively, of the city’s popular high-end Italian restaurants Lupo Verde, Lupo Verde Osteria and Lupo Marino. Their new venture – occupying a 2,000-square-foot, 88-seat footprint at 399 Morse Street NE – brings a contemporary spirit to the classic pizza counter, and taps into a new niche of fine-casual Italian dining. “The Union Market District continues its commitment to nurturing burgeoning local businesses with the arrival of The Village Cafe (1272 5th Street NE), slated for a soft opening on October 9, followed by a grand opening on October 23.

When founders and Washington natives Kevon King, Mahammad Mangum and Ryan Williams met as kids, they bonded at Woodrow Wilson High School, where they pursued their passions in the business, creative and culinary fields, respectively.

Recognizing that cafés are the ultimate social gathering place, the trio embarked upon opening their own establishment that would not only bring quality food and drink to underserved communities, but that would also uplift the “village” that make those communities tick. (more…)

The two-day music and food festival will bring some of today’s most exciting and emerging artists to Washington, DC.

Saturday, October 6 features an all-female lineup, curated by Maggie Rogers and MSMR’s Lizzy Plapinger. The roster is helmed by Maggie and Billie Eilish and includes emerging talents like Jessie ReyezRavyn Lenae and more. The day will also highlight female-owned businesses and artists in the DC area.

Sunday, October 7 will welcome pop powerhouses BØRNSCarly Rae Jepsen and Betty Who back to DC as well as up-and-comers The AcesTwo FeetCautious Clay and more.
