“Dear PoPville,

I’ve been a DC resident for about six years. Preparing to sign my lease for my next apartment building, and came across an unexpected provision in the contract. Regarding parking (the building has a garage):

“Residents and/or Occupants are prohibited from participating in the Residential Parking Permit (“RPP”) Program through the District of Columbia, including, but not limited to, applying for or obtaining an RPP. “Dear PoPville,

I read an article a few weeks ago about crazy rent increases in Washington DC. Our rent is scheduled to go up from about 2100 to 2700 for a 12 month lease, or 3300 for a 6 month lease. Malik reports: “Going on 49 hours with no water. Everytime they are supposed to turn it back on, they find a new problem that adds to the delay” (more…)

It will be short-lived because I close on a condo later this month. The apartment building requires 60 days notice to move out instead of 30, which I submitted on 2/15 when I went under contract. So my last day of paying rent will be 4/15. (more…)
