U Street Music Hall announced they had closed after 10 years on U Street back in October 2020. I’m now hearing that a new new nightclub operator has leased the space. I give this a 93% accuracy rating. Stay tuned.
2649 Connecticut Ave, NW
Sources say yes! To the former Starbucks location, which closed in September 2020 and was previously home to Cafe Paradiso. I’m hearing that a Dim Sum restaurant with roots in Tysons is coming. I give this a 91% accuracy rating. STAY TUNED.
1128 H Street, NE
Some more good scuttlebutt (and much more coming this week): I hear that the folks behind Hakuna Matata Grill in Silver Spring/Wheaton will be opening a location in the former Cusbah space. This appears to be confirmed by a website called USA Restaurants, and this source has an 89% accuracy rating so I feel very good about this.

According to one of the workers, Columbia Heights Target (14th and Irving/Park Road, NW) is under construction because they are putting a mini Ulta inside. The former Himitsu/Pom Pom space at 828 Upshur St NW was being painted black yesterday, and the “For Lease” sign is gone! I haven’t seen/heard anything about what’s going in that space. I should have stopped and asked, but did not.”
