“Dear PoPville,

As most of us are these days, I am 100% home and teleworking. I have it pretty good–still have a salary and with ample of indoor and outdoor space to move around in.

However the amount of noise in DC is really incredible! I know I had crappy windows–installed by a third party after a construction job at my place. I can hear everything and I’d rather not.

Can you ask the community if anyone has replaced their windows and what the brand/style was and who installed them? I’m especially interested in hearing from people who live close to busy streets (I live off of North Capitol near three traffic lights–sooo much honking and loud music) and who are satisfied with their windows/noise reduction. Also interested in bad experiences/places and products to avoid. I know there are quality windows out there but it is expensive when you have 17 of various sizes to replace (not including the basement ones).”

GL requests: “any good sushi take out still around? Plz assist!”

Some early responses:

Hilo poke and sushi in Adams Morgan, Sushi Taro, Wok n Roll, Sticky Rice, Imm Thai or Asia Kitchen, Torai in Barracks Row, Zeppelin in Shaw is offering takeout sushi, in AdMo! And if you do pickup between 4 and 6pm I believe they have their sushi happy hour pricing, Tono Sushi, Toku if you’re looking for pretty nice quality at a reasonable price!!, Yosaku, on Wisconsin near Tenleytown metro. One of the few Japanese owned ones and it’s terrific!, Nama_DC by Chef Michael Schlow, Kaz, Sushi Ogawa, and Raku/Rakuya.”

Add yours below and please add what neighborhood if you can.

“Dear PoPville,

Perhaps your readers can informally weigh in on the question of which DC hospital has the most effective emergency room and why.

It could be helpful when a future predicament arrives.

It’s possible I’ve left one or two out, but the options seem to be: (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

My boyfriend is going through the process of buying a house, but so many sales are the unit splits that seem like shoddy construction. While he is trying to avoid those types of units in general, I do want to see if there are some renovators that do a good job at it (or rather those to avoid). Would love to hear of any positive/negative experiences so we can at least be more informed while searching!”

Wendy asks: “since you have been posting several “Best (food option)” around town, can you ask the community, where to find best French Toast? Not soggy, not covered in fruit or fruity syrup but yum yum worthy. Places have pancakes & waffles, looking for French Toast. THANKS!”

An important follow up to yesterday’s discussion about best Cobb salad – tons of requests after we posted for a best Caesar salad – and since that’s my favorite too – FOLLOWING.

HungryLobbyist replied to this discussion @PoPville with: “Depends. Do you want steakhouse classic Caesar with anchovies or fancy Caesar? The one at @AllPurposeDC #Shaw is my favorite actually. I get anchovies on the side. It’s soooo good and huge and always crispy and fresh.”

Where’s your favorite found?
