Thanks to Ryan for sharing: “a big shout out to my friends at Primrose in Brookland. EASILY the best value plate in the city is their HH burger w/ a side salad & frites, $12. Unbelievable burger, incredible value. Eat at the bar.”

Happy hour is “Every Monday – Friday from 5:30 – 7:30 at the bar we offer $8 wines as well as discounts on some of our most popular dishes.”

Ed. Note: I’m trying to confirm whether or not the HH burger deal is $12 or $15 but either way in 2022 not too shabby with salad and frites included though there was a time… You can see other best burger options here and here.

“Dear PoPville,

I had the juiciest, most flavorful dumplings from a food truck named Himalayan Soul Foods at the Asia Fiesta food festival in DC last weekend. These dumplings are called momos and they are eaten in Nepal and Tibet. One distinctive feature of these momos is that they have a tasty tomato sauce to go along with them. I can’t believe it was the first time I’ve heard of them. I was wondering if anyone knows of any restaurants that serve momos in DC/ VA? I’m a fan!”

Ed. Note: Stand by for Momo DC coming to Dupont. In the meantime where are some current great spots?

Mandy asks: “Ok friends. Countdown has begun. What goes on the DC bucket list before I move to NC?? What say you @PoPville and community? Over a dozen years here I’ve done a lot but what is a MUST DO?! Ready, go.”

Ed. Note: The magnificent variety and breadth of the recs below is a good reminder that we take a lot for granted and are lucky to live in one of the greatest places on earth. A bit corny to write but straight up truth.

“Dear PoPville,

In A Pickle is shutting down in Eastern Market. He announced it on the Facebook page on 3/19 and it’s very sad to see it go! For me, like many, it was the main reason for going to eastern market on the weekends. Anyone know where to get these pickles and olives from now that he’s shutting down?

“Dear In a Pickle Fans,

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the closing of In A Pickle Company. We are grateful for the support of our customers over the past 14 years I have enjoyed meeting all you over those years. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I was wondering if you could ask Popville readers for suggestions for a Thai restaurant that makes vegan curries (specifically green curry). For the past ten years I have been eating at the same Thai restaurant in DC thinking that the vegan green curry they made was actually vegan and found out that there is shrimp paste in the curry. Has anyone found a Thai restaurant that can make curry without shrimp paste? It is my favorite meal and really desperate for a replacement go-to Thai spot.”

Another reader asked more generally: “My go to thai spot on h street closed. Any recommendations for Thai in SE?”

Ed. Note: Discussion about best Thai food in general from 2019 here.
