“Dear PoPville,

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I have had five Amazon packages stolen in 4 days in Capitol Hill. I am livid. I know this is a citywide issue, but it feels like Capitol Hill has been getting the brunt of it for months. The most recent package was delivered at 10 PM and was gone by 6 AM. I was asleep, so I did not retrieve the package when it was delivered. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I am reaching out for help from the community. I am guardian for a woman whose beloved dog Ryder was euthanized earlier this month. I am writing to ask help in locating the cremains of the dog, “Ryder”. His actual owner is in a nursing home and is devastated.

UPS alleges to have delivered the cremains to my office, 419 7th St. NW, Suite 405. They say someone signed “Aguilera” and accepted the package which included a rosewood box and a paw print. I am requesting that the community be put on notice to look for it. I can be contacted as follows: Cynthia Jefferson, 419 7th St. NW, Suite 405, Washington, DC 20004; (202) 247-8808.”

“Dear PoPville,

When one has a recording of a porch thief, are you supposed to report it as a crime and submit the video? Is it helpful for crime stats?

Would love to hear actual recommendations other than just complaints.

My video is obviously of someone very masked up that probably won’t be helpful for evidence collection.”

“Dear PoPville,

We live in Shaw and had a rug delivered to our house. We were home and went to get the door to bring it in. Within 2 minutes it was stolen. We reported the theft but weren’t expecting it to be recovered. Within 30 minutes an MPD officer arrived at our house and recovered the stolen rug. Thank you to Officer Morgan for all of his help!”
