The long dedicated bike lane running along the west side of 15th street NW is a main bike artery through the city, but often causes a level of false confidence and safety to riders. People blowing down the bike lane near Meridian hill Park are met with the intersection of Florida, W, 15th, and New Hampshire, which has a very awkward traffic pattern and some blind spots. In the post about the reopening of the lower section of Meridian Hill park you commented that it was the first time you had seen NPS use the term Malcolm X Park. There is a sign by the entrance to the lower plaza that explains that despite the popular usage of Malcolm X Park, they can’t change the official name because the park contains President Buchanan’s memorial, (more…)

“After two years of work, the lower level is very nice which includes access for those not able previously to access the lower level.”
