The long dedicated bike lane running along the west side of 15th street NW is a main bike artery through the city, but often causes a level of false confidence and safety to riders. People blowing down the bike lane near Meridian hill Park are met with the intersection of Florida, W, 15th, and New Hampshire, which has a very awkward traffic pattern and some blind spots.
People headed in cars, with a green light NE on New Hampshire cannot see people barreling down the hill, on bikes and scooters, trying to keep up their speed. Although there is a bike light, we know many cyclist and scooter drivers do not follow this.
Anyways someone got ran over last night and was being loaded into ambulance. Ambulance stayed on site after loading up for about 20 minutes.”
