Hours are listed as Hours 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM Update: Danielle reports, “They seem to open at 11:30, not at 9. We were pretty disappointed to see that breakfast butter chicken apparently is *not* happening.”

From an email:

“Fresh Butter Chicken served daily until we run out! Please call to inquire about the status if after 1:00PM.”

Heads up to the the hawks around town.

Thanks to Yaron for sending:

“Is anyone missing a fat pigeon in Petworth? Or any bird experts that can tell me why this guy has been sitting on my fence for the past 3 hours? It didn’t budge when my dog ran up and started barking at it. We almost never get pigeons in our yard.”

Ed. Note: In all seriousness – City Wildlife is on the case.

If you spot a hawk or any interesting wildlife around town, lunching or otherwise, and get a good photo please send where you spotted it to [email protected] and I’ll add it to the queue. Hawks around Town is made possible by a generous grant from the Friends of the White Whale Society.

Anna writes about the Capitol Hill Sweetgreen on Penn Ave:

“WHY IS IT STILL CLOSED

Cramping my style. Do you know anything? or perhaps a reader does?”

Ed. Note: I’ve written Sweetgreen for an update but haven’t heard back from them. In possible positive news I did hear that the W Street location has reopened.

624 E Street, NW

As for the Sweetgreen coming to the former Taylor Gourmet in Penn Quarter – it’s still not open yet either.

Ed. Note: We reported that a RASA would likely be coming to the former Taylor Gourmet space here back in early August.

From a press release:

“Celebrated ‘Fine Fast Casual’ Indian restaurant RASA (1247 First Street SE) from dynamic DC-based hospitality duo Rahul Vinod and Sahil Rahman has announced that the popular eatery will be expanding their food footprint in the DC area with the addition of two new confirmed RASA locations including one in Mount Vernon Triangle (DC) – their second to open in the District in partnership with EDENS – and another in Crystal City (VA)/National Landing in partnership with JBG SMITH – making it their first RASA location to open outside of the District. In addition Rahman and Vinod are also thrilled to announce their new partnership with legendary Washington Redskins Tight End Vernon Davis.

Featuring 1,400 square feet, RASA at EDENS’ CityVista (475 K Street NW) is slated to open in Winter 2019. As a DC-based national retail real estate developer, owner, and operator, EDENS added RASA to their curated selection of retailer partners to further engage the community. (more…)
