Note: The Washington Post reported this occurred 5:40pm and “the victims told police the assailants used an anti-gay slur and referred to monkeypox.” Metroweekly also reported it happened at 5:40pm and “two teenagers who allegedly called them “monkeypox f*****s” before assaulting them, resulting in a six-hour stay at a local emergency room.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District seek the public’s assistance in identifying suspects in a Simple Assault offense that occurred on Sunday, August 7, 2022, in the 1700 block of 7th Street, Northwest.
At approximately 7:12 pm, the suspects approached the victims at the listed location. The suspects made derogatory comments towards the victims based on their sexual orientation. Two suspects then assaulted the victims and fled the scene. The victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
