Here’s who’s coming to the former Walters near Looking Glass and DC Reynolds on Georgia Ave just south of the Petworth metro.

The liquor license placard for Marrakech says:

“New Class “C” Tavern specializing in Moroccan cuisine with 62 seats inside and a 20 seat Summer Garden, for a total of 82 seats and a Total Occupancy of 100. The licensee is requesting an Entertainment Endorsement to include Live Entertainment, Dancing, and Cover Charge.”

Anyone know if this is the same folks who used to be on P Street in Dupont?

Ed. Note: This is in addition to Tsehay Ethiopian Restaurant coming down the block to 3630 Georgia Avenue, NW.

STAY TUNED.

Back in December we shared some mouth watering Scuttlebutt that the folks from Bloomingdale’s Showtime Bar, across the street from Boundary Stone on Rhode Island Ave., had plans to open up a second spot in Brightwood Park on Georgia Ave (photo above.) [Showtime opened in Bloomingdale back in 2013 and is perennially placed on all the ‘best of’ lists around town.] A week ago I reported that Neptune Room was coming to 5405 Georgia Avenue, NW and because the liquor license placard listed the prolific Andrew Kline as attorney, I suspected this might be the rumored Showtime spot. And now a local food blog confirms it is indeed the Showtime folks: “Team Showtime confirmed”.

The liquor license placard for Neptune Room says:

“A new Retailer’s Class C Tavern. Seating capacity of 30 inside. Total Occupancy Load of 96. The License will include an Entertainment Endorsement for the inside of the premises only.”

The attorney listed on the placard is the prolific Andrew Kline who is usually involved with significant projects. Could this be related to the scuttlebutt about a 2nd bar from the owners of Showtime in Bloomingdale? Either way, STAY TUNED.

First talk I’ve heard about hoping to bring back the Caribbean Carnival in a while. The last carnival to take place on Georgia Ave was in 2011.

From the Ledroit Park listserv:

“All who are interested and willing, please set a scheduled time so we can discuss bringing back our District of Columbia Caribbean Carnival to Georgia Avenue. There are too many outside and local commercial and retail sponsors promoting and funding events in other sections of the city not to have these same sponsors fund our Carnival. NoMo Beer fest, Capitol Hill’s H Street fest, Gay Pride Day are some of the sponsored events this city also supports.

We must keep the Caribbean Heritage and cultural alive and ongoing in the District of Columbia. Let’s plan a revival in 2015. Please put me in contact with the past organizers. Lets do this…immediately. Calvin H. Gurley”

Thanks to @AnthonyDihle for tweeting us the photo above – he writes:

“Re-brand? I always thought Everlasting Life was a rad restaurant name”

Back in June CityPaper learned:

“Everlasting Life Cafe is in the process of changing its name to Woodland’s Vegan Bistro to avoid confusion with Everlasting Life Restaurant & Lounge in Capitol Heights, Md.”

You can see Woodlands Bistro’s menus here.

Ed. Note: In September we learned that Everlasting Life Restaurant & Lounge would be opening up a second location in Takoma DC at 6904 4th Street, NW.
