Gelato to Georgetown as DOLCEZZA Returns to Where it all Began in new Storefront this Winter!

“I’m reaching out with exciting news from DOLCEZZA. The Washington, D.C.-based gelato & coffee shop is coming back to where it all started and opening a new shop in Georgetown this winter.

The new location, DOLCEZZA’s 7th in the DC area, marks a homecoming for founders Robb Duncan and Violeta Edelman, who opened their first tiny DOLCEZZA kitchen and scoop shop in Georgetown in 2004–that’s also when they began selling gelato in DC’s farmers markets, alongside many of the mid-Atlantic farmers they call friends and partners today. They quickly outgrew their 300 sq ft Georgetown kitchen and in 2012 they moved operations to a 4,000 sq ft gelato factory space in the Union Market neighborhood.

“Pitango Gelato, the authentic Italian gelateria and coffee shop with locations throughout the Washington, DC, region and Baltimore, is thrilled to officially announce the opening of a highly anticipated new shop along DC’s 14th Street corridor. The store, opening on February 27th at 1802 14th Street, NW, is Pitango’s eighth location. The new gelateria and coffee shop will serve freshly brewed coffee, Italian baked goods, and artisanal, hand-spun gelato made with high-quality, carefully curated ingredients. The 1,027-square-foot space, designed by EastWing Architects, will also offer indoor seating for up to 10 guests.

Pitango’s new signature green cart, imported from Italy, will make appearances at iconic local businesses and organizations, including home and lifestyle boutique Salt & Sundry, neighborhood brewery Aslin Beer Company, the contemporary Glenstone Museum, and popular cocktail bar, Jane Jane. At the pop-ups scheduled throughout August and September, Pitango’s cart will sell both special collaborative flavors and classic Pitango sorbet and gelato flavors.
