“Pop-Ups with Pitango Gelato
In advance of their new store, coming soon to 14th Street, Pitango Gelato, the artisanal Italian gelateria, is celebrating summer with festive pop-ups with partners around DC and Maryland. Pitango’s new signature green cart, imported from Italy, will make appearances at iconic local businesses and organizations, including home and lifestyle boutique Salt & Sundry, neighborhood brewery Aslin Beer Company, the contemporary Glenstone Museum, and popular cocktail bar, Jane Jane. At the pop-ups scheduled throughout August and September, Pitango’s cart will sell both special collaborative flavors and classic Pitango sorbet and gelato flavors.
On Saturday, August 2nd, Pitango will join Salt & Sundry at their Logan Circle location at 2pm
in celebration of Dog Days DC, a small-business focused, neighborhood-wide sidewalk sale. While browsing home goods in-store, guests can purchase Pitango’s specialty Olive Oil & Sea Salt gelato flavor developed in collaboration with Salt & Sundry alongside other classic gelatos and sorbet. Throughout the pop-up, Salt & Sundry will offer exclusive deals on home and lifestyle items.
The following weekend on Saturday, August 9th, visitors of Glenstone Museum can enjoy scoops of Pitango Gelato from 3:30pm to 7:30pm. This is the first time the museum has partnered with a food vendor, and the cart will be selling Pitango’s classic sorbet and gelato flavors, such as the Italian hazelnut and chocolate Gianduja and refreshing Mojito.
On August 16th and 30th, Pitango will pop-up at Aslin Beer Company’s 14th Street location at 3pm. Throughout the afternoon on both days, guests can enjoy the new collaborative Raspberry Volcano Sauce Sorbet, made with Pitango’s fresh Raspberry Sorbet blended with Aslin’s cult-following sour Volcano Sauce Ale. Throughout the pop-up, the collaborative sorbet will be available for purchase while supplies last, along with select classic Pitango flavors.
To round out the season of gelato pop-ups, Jane Jane and Pitango will partner on September 13th to offer custom combos of freshly spun gelato and booze. Guests can enjoy a scoop of Blood Orange Sorbet topped with Monkey Gland; a custom Jane Jane shot of gin, grenadine, and absinthe. Other pairings feature the Blake’s Banana made with Licor 43, banana liqueur, and simple syrup poured over a scoop of Cafe Espresso Gelato. An afternoon start time and final menu of full offerings will be announced on Pitango and Jane Jane’s social media channels in the coming weeks
