Named one of the best burgers in America by The Daily Meal and Business Insider, Tasty Burger sets itself apart from the burger pack by using all-natural, hormone- and antibiotic-free beef with fresh ingredients; not to mention the 15+ condiments available at every table, including Tasty’s very own homemade Spicy Ketchup. Tasty’s signature burger, The Big Tasty, is a 1/3-lb burger on a local bun from Gold Crust Baking Company out of Landover, MD, topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickle and Tasty sauce. Other burger highlights include Spicy Jalapeno, Chili Cheese, Gorgonzola, Rise ‘n Shine (topped with an egg), and the BBQ Onion. Hot Dogs, Salads, Chicken Nuggets, and Sandwiches like the Chicky Chicky Parm Parm (crispy chicken & tomato sauce topped with fried mozzarella and melted mozzarella) round out the menu with sides like Fries, Onion Rings, and Tater Tots. (For the full menu, see http://www.tastyburger.com/washington-dc.)

The first location to offer a full bar, Tasty Burger Shaw’s cocktail, beer & wine selection reflects local offerings with microbrews from Atlas Brew Works, DC Brau, and Duckpin, as well as the Raspberry Gin Rickey cocktail, an updated boozy version of Tasty’s classic Homemade Raspberry Lime Rickey that pays homage to the gin rickey’s D.C. roots. Additional beverage options include the Tasty Bloody Mary (made with neighboring D.C. local business Bazaar Spices’ spice blend and Smoked Bacon Chipotle Salt rim), a Pickle Back (shot of whiskey & Tasty’s pickle juice) and the Shift Drink (Narragansett and a shot of Fernet Vittone), as well as adult milk shakes like the Grasshopper, the Monk (Melleti & green chartreuse), White Russian, Strawberry Daiquiri, and Pina Colada. Thanks to Mitch for sending word about Tasty Burger’s now hiring notice:

“Over the next several weeks, we will be putting the final touches on the newest location of Tasty Burger, a local neighborhood burger joint that is opening up in Shaw in early June. Apply now to become one of our very first Team Members!

About Tasty Burger: With five locations on the East Coast, Tasty Burger is an American fast food burger joint that evokes feelings of the 1940s and 1950s when the American burger began its legendary rise to become a modern pop culture icon. Outstanding fresh ingredients are cooked to order in an incredibly fun, laid back atmosphere that has made ‘Tasty’ an instant classic. The burgers are made with all-natural hormone & antibiotic-free beef, alongside shakes, rings, fries, a full bar; and surrounded by local artists’ work, free foosball tables, and a digital jukebox with great music.”

Ed. Note: I’m encouraged by the peek inside I took on Saturday:

In happier awning news – Bareburger got a bunch of new ones and proper signage at the former Cosi space in Dupont.  You can check out Bareburger’s menus here.

This is right next door the to the former five guys burger spot (now a 7-Eleven). Also not far from where the Smashburger closed in 2014.  Updates when they announce an opening date.

From an email:

“Since opening Slash Run we have done two events with the Soldier’s Home – one at the Soldier’s Home for a happy hour and one at Slash as a fundraiser for them.

We loved doing both and it got us to thinking about how much more we should get involved and supportive of the community as a whole.

So, in 2016 we’re starting to have fundraiser nights at Slash Run for any non-profit, arts or theater organizations, food banks, etc. If people are interested in participating they can email me at [email protected].

Here are the details:
Sunday-Thursday evening/night
We promote/they promote
15% of Sales from that night go to the organization (they get the benefit of whatever sales we would have naturally done)
Pretty simple

We’ve done this up at Sidebar over the years and it has been great.

Also, starting tonight BURGERS ARE HALF PRICE ON MONDAYS AT SLASH RUN!

All night at the bar and after 7pm in the dining room. Must purchase a drink. Not available for take out.”
