From the Office of DC Council Chairman Phil Mendelson:
“This is a manufactured intrusion on local authority. Violent crime in the District is at the lowest rates we’ve seen in 30 years. Federalizing the Metropolitan Police Department is unwarranted because there is no Federal emergency. Further, the National Guard has no public safety training or knowledge of local laws. The Guard’s role does not include investigating or solving crimes in the District. Calling out the National Guard is an unnecessary deployment with no real mission. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
With the closure of Montgomery Hills Car Wash (RIP to Moco’s finest) we have no idea where to take our car for a full service car wash. I’m specifically looking for an interior vacuum and exterior wash in the $20-$40 range – I don’t need detailing, I do need some dog hair removal, (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
I wanted to write to you to see if anyone else has experienced the new parking scheme at Sam’s Park n’ Ride in Cleveland Park. I went to pull into the lot the other day, and it said “just pull through” with no ticket to pull. I did so, and it looks like I had signed up for Metropolitan parking in the past, so it didn’t prompt me to sign up like the signs say to do. I drove out per the “just drive out” sign, and was hit with a parking charge of $26 for less than 15 minutes of parking. (more…)
