Hmm this is a curious location. The liquor license placard for an as of yet unnamed bar says:

“A new Retailer’s Class C Tavern with a seating capacity of 30 and Total Occupancy Load of 50. Requesting a Summer Garden with 15 seats and a Live Entertainment Endorsement for both inside the premises and outside in the Summer Garden.” (more…)

Icarus and Quazi came to Homeward Trails as owner surrenders, through no fault of their own. They are now looking for a forever home together!

Quazi is a handsome house panther who is ready for love! He loves cuddles and is super affectionate – he even asks for belly rubs from people he just met! Rounding out his top 3 favorite things are rub downs, play time, and treats.

Icarus is also quite a looker! He can be shy at first, but he warms up with a little time to become sweet, curious, and adventurous. With a little bit of play time and a few treats, you might have a friend for life in Icarus. Among Icarus’s favorite things to do is hanging out in windows, so we recommend a home with plenty of perches for this boy!

Miss Bailey wants to be your friend! This pretty 2 year old dog is cuddly lady who will be an excellent companion to a lucky family. Miss Bailey likes to be near her humans and will sit down next to them and ask for scratches or tummy rubs by nuzzling people’s arms or flopping over.

Miss Bailey has excellent house manners – she is house trained and does not beg for food. She is not a fan of the crate but she is not at all destructive. Bailey knows basic commands.

Outdoors, she is very athletic and loves to catch or chase balls or frisbees (though she’s still working on her return rate!). She enjoys a nice walk and is working on her leash manners.

Miss Bailey is cordial to dogs she meets but prefers not to share her home with another dog. To learn more about Miss Bailey, click here.

Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

I’m moving within my own building, and was looking for recommendations for labor only movers, specifically to help with the disassembly and reassembly of my bed. (Everything else I can do myself and/or with the help of friends, but as far as the bed is concerned, we are not the handiest of people). I’ve looked around and have found most places charging around $140/hour with a 2 hour minimum, which is a lot for help with one piece of furniture.

FWIW, I considered craigslist and task rabbit, but would feel more comfortable having someone who actually knows what they are doing help.”

NASA’s recent, spectacular Artemis II mission is a sign that the United States is serious about sending humans to the Moon again.

“Dear PoPville,

Any recommendations for a jewelry store with progressive values, for buying an engagement ring? For example, we’d like to purchase from a store that supports selling engagement rings to people in LQBTQIA relationships. Location in DC would be ideal but we’re happy to go to Virginia or Maryland. If it’s relevant, we’re looking to buy a salt and pepper diamond ring. Thank you for your help!!”

“Dear PoPville,

There is a woman that lives outside of Seaton Elementary School on 10th Street NW. She’s been there for a few months, in all conditions. We’ve dropped off left overs for her and exchanged polite pleasantries at times. We’ve called the shelter hotline on particularly cold nights, concerned for her safety. Until recently we haven’t had any other concerns related to her.

Over the past few weeks, however, she’s consistently been using our alley as a bathroom. With our block full of curious kids and dogs, and rain too infrequent to be a reliable clean up method, a few of us neighbors have done our best to continually clean up after her. (more…)
