Last week we learned that the old Taste of Seoul space (forever the old Meskerem spot to many) was becoming a “Brazilian street food place”. New signage is up revealing the name to be Copacabana. Obviously. I hear they are hoping to open by October but they look pretty close so I’ll be sure to update when we get an exact opening date. STAY TUNED.

“Dear PoPville,
We live in a condo in an old row house. Our internet has never been great, but we’ve been without cable and internet for more than a week now. Comcast came out and pretty much threw up their hands and said it was an internal wiring issue. The technicians they recommended to troubleshoot internal problems came and said they don’t do anything beyond the outlet. We’re expecting our first baby in the next two weeks, which coupled with the current WFH situation makes the timing on this a bit more challenging. (more…)

Thanks to Eli for sharing the good news:
“Big news on 14th & T in DC: this great taco shop Taqueria Nacional is opening back up for first time of the pandemic.”
“Dear PoPville,
I live in DC but am planning to go kayaking someplace in Virginia or Maryland this weekend just to have a change of scenery, and was looking for some input on kayak rentals. I’ve read a few reviews of places in Virginia where the employees aren’t wearing masks. I want to try to go someplace where employees are wearing masks and there are good pandemic-era practices but it’s a little difficult to gauge a rental location’s practices because they often don’t have information posted on their websites.”

After tweeting earlier, DC Department of General Services replied “Thanks for the tag, we have forwarded this concern to our Facilities team to address.” to which OP replied:
“We have been told this repeatedly for over 9 months since we first attempted to report the issue. Can we actually get a maintenance ticket number for this? A timeline of when it can be fixed?”
“Dear PoPville,
I realize there are actually serious life and death issues happening these days. But, for the last nine months, we have been trying to get the city to fix the gates to the Swampoodle Dog Park because they no longer latch and swing open, allowing dogs to escape. Over the last nine months we have sent over 30 emails, (more…)
