Animal Fix

Pinkie, Cathedral Heights

“Pinkie is a very sweet 9 y/o companion cat that has been used to being around her person at all times. Sadly, Pinkie’s mom passed away and she is looking for a wonderful family to live the rest of her years with. She’s a great coworker for her foster that works from home and is extremely affectionate, always by your side. She’s a cuddle bug and enjoys sleeping by your side at night and loves to be pet or get belly rubs. Pinkie is a more mature lady so she’s very polite and well behaved, never scratching furniture but occasionally playful with her mice toys or a random bout of zoomies around the house. Pinkie would do best in a quiet home where she will get lots of love and attention! If you’re interested in meeting and adopting Pinkie, please send in an application here.”

Dear PoPville

via Go Fund Me

“Dear PoPville,

About a year ago I moved EOTR, and my next door neighbor, Sybil, is an incredibly sweet woman who was formerly unhoused/homeless, and now lives in a home owned by her elderly mother. The home definitely needs repairs, but having been homeless before, Sybil loves it. Sybil is kind and caring, she feeds a colony of feral cats, and is a wonderful person. Sybil works selling papers for StreetSense.

Sybil’s mom has always paid the taxes on the house, while Sybil pays the utilities and upkeep on the house. For reasons unknown, her mother stopped paying the taxes about 2.5 years ago, and notified Sybil a few weeks ago that she has to pay the $7,200 in back taxes, or the home will go to tax sale. Brookland

“Dear PoPville,

On Thursday 6/16, I headed to Brookland to swim with a dear friend at Turkey Thicket Pool. After completing an awesome hour-long swim workout, I discovered that my pool locker with a combination-number lock was broken into (they cut the lock) and all my personal belongings stolen, including my driver’s license, credit card, house keys, and most importantly a hearing aid that I need in order to hear since I’m deaf. Thanks to M. for passing on this note from Acacia Bistro & Wine Bar (opened here in 2009):

“Dear beloved customers,

It is with deep regret that I have to inform all of you that Acacia will be closing at the end of this month. I have put my heart and soul into this restaurant and tried my absolute best to keep Acacia running for all of you to enjoy. However, my landlord UDC, has made this impossible due to their insistence more than doubling the rent! (more…)
