“Metro is celebrating the return of giant pandas to Washington D.C. through a special SmarTrip card collaboration with the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute.
Customers can commemorate the public debut of giant pandas Bao Li and Qing Bao at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo with a new limited-edition SmarTrip card available at select stations beginning Jan. 22.

“On Saturday, January 18, 2025, street closures and parking restrictions will begin for the 2025 Presidential Inauguration that motorists should take into consideration. District residents and business owners are asked to plan for widespread road closures across Downtown Washington. Most roads within the perimeter, bounded by the Potomac River to the west, K Street NW to the north, Second Street NE/SE to the east, and I-395/I-695 to the south will be closed or restricted residential traffic only. “Dear PoPville,

Watched a disabled patron navigate their walker with all their groceries down the curb to walk to the L2 bus because this Coach Express charter bus parked in the official WMATA bus stop. I should note, I called 311 about 20 minutes before this happened and they said they would send MPD and the bus remained.”
