“The concept will be opening an outpost called America Eats at DC United’s Audi Field! America Eats will feature signature menu items including Pimento Grilled Cheese, Sloppy Joe, Half Smoke with local sausage, creole mustard, sliced tomato, and pickled onions, and French fries. The outpost will open for D.C United’s first game of the season against the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, February 29th and will be open for the remainder of the season.”

“Scott Van Pelt‘s midnight “SportsCenter” will move to the host’s hometown of DC in August.

“I’m reaching out to Trouble Funk,” he said. “I’m trying to figure out how we can get a Go-Go version of the ‘SportsCenter’ theme. I want to have that in the bag of tricks. I want to be able to come back from commercial and have Go-Go music playing. That will say to anyone who understands that we’re back in the District.”

“As this season concludes, Bruce Allen has been relieved of his duties as President of the Washington Redskins and is no longer with the organization.”

Nationals Re-Sign Stephen Strasburg to a seven year deal!!

“The Washington Nationals agreed to terms on a seven-year contract with right-handed pitcher Stephen Strasburg on Monday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Strasburg, 31, went 18-6 with a 3.32 ERA and struck out a career-high 251 batters in 33 starts in 2019. He led the National League in wins (18) and innings pitched (209.0) and ranked among National League pitchers in strikeouts (2nd, 251), opponents’ OPS (4th, .620), opponents’ batting average (5th, .210), strikeouts per 9.0 innings (5th, 10.81), walks and hits per innings pitched (5th, 1.04), opponents’ slugging percentage (6th, .349) and opponents’ on-base percentage (7th, .271).

“We are very excited to welcome Stephen Strasburg and his family back to the Washington Nationals,” said Washington Nationals Managing Principal Owner Mark D. Lerner. “His tremendous talent, work ethic and leadership have been a staple of our organization since the day we selected him in the 2009 MLB Draft. A New Sports Bar, from one of the owners of The Crown and Crow, Looking to come to the old Southern Hospitality space in Adams Morgan!!

Southern Hospitality closed after 7 years here back in July. The space was previously home to Adams Mill Bar and Grill which closed back in 2011. But the big potential news comes from a recent ANC meeting (thanks to Gordon Chaffin for the heads up about it) – Ben Sislen – an Adams Morgan resident and one of the owners of the excellent The Crown & Crow in Logan Circle said that he is in the process of looking at bringing a sports bar with betting to the former Southern Hospitality space. And all I can say is STAY TUNED!!
