Thanks to Andrei for sending.

From an email:
“Destination DC (DDC), the official destination marketing organization for Washington, DC will distribute spirited and commemorative “Finish the Fight”, the official Washington Nationals World Series slogan, posters at Metro stations and businesses throughout the city from 7:30-9:30am on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
Metro stations throughout the city, including Chinatown/Gallery Place and Navy Yard-Ballpark.”

“Dear PoPville,
I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if we can do anything about it. My husband bought tickets to (potential) Game 5 of the World Series during the presale on Thursday, received confirmation of the sale, charged the credit card, and then Friday they canceled our tickets without explanation. My husband and I have been calling and, no reason is being given.
Update! My husband spoke to customer service again and gave a long-winded explanation of what happened. This rep said that apparently we were swept up in some anti-hacking measures. They wouldn’t honor the same game but they let us buy tickets to game 4 on Saturday. If anyone else has this issue, they need to call, be prepared to wait on hold for a while and don’t back down.”

Seriously. There’s gotta be an OJ chase caliber event times 1000 (God forbid) to change my mind. Seriously.
But if bars aren’t your scene – these should be lit too – from the Nationals:
“For the first time in 86 years, a D.C. baseball team is in the World Series! Last night, the Nationals found out that they will be playing the Houston Astros in the Fall Classic, beginning with Game 1 on Tuesday, October 22 and Game 2 on Wednesday, October 23.
Even though the first two games will be played at Minute Maid Park in Houston, everyone in the DMV is invited to come out to a watch party at Nationals Park on both nights! (more…)

label for “86 Years is a hazy double IPA double dry-hopped with Galaxy”
Here’s one from Bluejacket (300 Tingey Street, SE): “The Navy Yard brewery will tap a brand-new double IPA for the occasion: 86 Years. A reference to how long it’s been since a Washington baseball team has made it to the World Series, 86 Years is a hazy double IPA double dry-hopped with Galaxy – it’s a juicy fruit bomb of a brew that shows intense notes of passionfruit, peach and orange, and it goes on draft Tuesday in time for Game 1. Plus, we’ll have the following food + beer specials available during watch parties for all away games:
$5 Cans
Solidarity Brew 2019 – Kellerbier
Controlling Interest – Golden Ale
$5 Drafts
Turning Road
For The Company
Object Lesson
Palace at 4am
Cheddar & Togarashi Popcorn $4
Smoky Onion Rings with curry mayo $5
Fried Chicken Bites with fermented chili aioli $7
Peel & Eat Shrimp with old bay, charred lemon aioli $12
Short Rib Nachos with beer cheese, black beans, pico de gallo, sour cream $10”
Standby for many more. With likely late hours too.
From ABRA:
“Congratulations to the Washington Nationals for sweeping the 2019 National League Championship Series and clinching their first trip to the World Series!
If you are an ABC licensee interested in hosting a Watch Party or related event and want to extend your approved hours of operation, you must file a One-Day Substantial Change Application. (more…)

Thanks to ISD Mair for sending: “do we think this is supposed to say “go Nats” or are WMATA just enthusiastic early season hockey fans?”
Also awesome – from the Caps: “This might have been the greatest Mite of the Nite interview EVER.” (more…)

It is no dream – onward we fight!!

“Dear PoPville,
Outside of the standard Bullpen or The Brig (which I do love) it would be cool for a couple options for outdoor/projection screen watch party spots. I will say the Viewing at Nats Park last night was awesome, but not paying for regular priced concessions.”

Congrats to the @WashMystics on a gutsy, first-ever championship! A great team performance when it counted. If folks aren’t careful, this title thing might become a habit in DC.
