Well this is awesome. Got this email from the Humane Rescue Alliance yesterday:

“We saw your missed connections post about the dog, Nick, and we tracked down the adopters.”

Now, because it took me three times to pass blogging school – it will not be a surprise that I messed up. I deleted the original email and need OP to email me again so I can connect you with the adopters!!

In the meantime check out this update from the adopters – and thanks again to the Humane Rescue Alliance for making the connection: (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I recently took ownership over a family pet after a tragic accident. The pup is doing well, but she needs a vet visit.

My question is 2-fold:

1. Can anyone recommend a car share service they currently like and use – thinking ZipCar or what was Car2Go? I’ve never wanted/needed to own a car (I was born in DC and have lived exclusively in metro areas with great public transit)…but I’m finding myself wishing I had a car more and more. (I currently live in Mt. Pleasant….so parking is a nightmare).

2. The real reason I need a rec is because I need to take my dog to an important vet appointment and I’m cautious of trying to find a dog friendly uber/lyft.

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Never thought I’d be navigating this!”

“Dear PoPville,

I found the small male pitbull-type dog in the attached pictures in early June 2018 on my street in Fairlawn. He was beat up like he’d maybe jumped out of a car or had been fending for himself for a while. He was scared to death but eventually followed me in to my house and latched on to me. I called the Humane Rescue Alliance and they took him to the New York Ave shelter and cleaned him up and named him Nick. The pics are from his page on the site, and he was only there for a few days before his page disappeared, so I’m assuming (hoping!) he was adopted. (more…)

Thanks to N. for sending: “This pup braved the heat as part of a birthday bike ride, along with a caravan of bicycles with balloons. 14th & R St NW, July 18.”

*This series will feature any pets in a backpack/bag. On metro, or not. Corgi, or not.

Hey, hey! We opened DC's newest park today! #AlethiaTannerPark, named by popular community suggestion and vote, freed herself from slavery in 1810 by selling produce in Lafayette Park. She went on to free family members and friends, and help found churches and educational institutions in DC. Proud to have worked on this amazing project. The opening was delayed by the coronavirus, but I'm so glad to have worked with many great folks to bring about another venue to celebrate community, practice civility, and exercise democracy. “Hey there! That’s me and my pig!

Her name is Lucy and she is an Assistance Animal to my boyfriend who is a navy vet. She helps more than you can imagine! To answer a few questions that we get a lot…she’s more like a cat and less like a dog, she’s very clean, does not smell at all, she is litter box trained and has salads for every meal. She is six months old and won’t get much bigger. She brings us so much joy and happiness, we’re thrilled she’s doing that for so many others during these crazy times!”

Here she is running in a tutu: (more…)
