Thanks to all who passed on from Pearl’s Bagels:

“The good news is that we finally received our building permits for Pearl’s Bagels and we start construction on the space next week. The bad news is that construction takes time…so it’ll still be a few months before we’re open. But fear not, we are now baking out of Union Kitchen and can take catering orders of any size. Start spreading the news!”

For weeks if not months now, there’s been some kind of underground project happening in front of the townhouses on the southern side of M St. NW between 9th and 10th (near Mt. Vernon Square metro).

I don’t know what they’re doing, but they’ve basically dug up the front yards of the entire row of houses and progress seems… slow. (more…)

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 600 block of Florida Avenue NW. An adult female has been transported to an area hospital with a non life threatening injury to the arm.
