Readers reported around 6:45pm Sunday:
“Shooting in Shaw on corner of Giant just now. Heard two shots. Police now blocking street off” Ed. Note: Semantics but this was likely shots fired where nobody was hit, fortunately, because I didn’t see a shooting report from MPD.
Unrelated but MPD reported at 3:20am: “Shooting in the 1800blk of 9th St NW. [around S Street, NW] No lookout at this time.”
Update from MPD:
“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Monday, August 23, 2021, in the 1800 block of 9th Street, Northwest.

“All-Purpose in Shaw, recently reopened for indoor dining, has launched a new Happy Hour that includes $5 beers, $7 wines by the glass, $9 cocktails and a $10 cheese pizza. The Happy Hour menu is available from 5 pm to 6 pm in the dining room and 5 pm to 7 pm at the bar. All-Purpose in Shaw is located at 1250 9th St NW, just across the street from the Walter E. “Dear PoPville,
My car windows were smashed parked overnight at 9th and Q Streets on Sunday evening. Apparently many other cars as well. My father’s coworkers’ windows were smashed at 9th and O the same evening. Apparently, there’s a man that walks around offering to repair their windows which makes me suspect they break them and then offer to repair them as a scam.”
