“New Restaurant specializing in creative cheeseboards with accompaniments such as cured meats, nuts, pickled vegetables and sweets. Will also have an array of light fare appetizers available. Cheese classes and wine tastings will be held. Sidewalk Café with 10 seats. Total Occupancy Load is 15 with seating for 14. Requesting an Entertainment Endorsement to provide live entertainment inside the premises only.”

Fabiana sent the photo above and asked: “This is 14 St NW between Randolph and Shepherd. What happened?”

Amber replied: “Spoke to officer and they are executing a search warrant.”

Steve reported around 10pm:

“Astrid pool hall was just raided. The FBI swat team ran through and there are about 10 old guys handcuffed out front. It looked like only one or two were arrested.”

Harry reported shots fired in Truxton Circle around 11pm:

“Not seeing this yet on the MPD twitter, but last night around 11pm I heard about 7-10 gunshots in the 200 block of Q Street, NW. MPD arrived promptly, swept the area, found casings through the street.”

And Benjamin passes on from Adams Morgan around 10pm:

MPD reported:

“Alert: Robbery (Gun) at 2213 hrs in the 1800 block of Ontario Pl NW. Lookout for a B/M, 6’4″ with facial hair, black clothing, black bandanna, armed with a handgun.”

Pedestrian Victim of a Hit and Run in Petworth/Brightwood Park – Police Looking for Vehicle – Victim “sustained a broken leg and a laceration to the head”

“Leaving after Colliding Hit & Run – Pedestrian, 5300 b/o Georgia Ave NW, CCN 174-040

On October 13, at approximately 11:30pm, the Victim was in the crosswalk crossing over Georgia Avenue NW when he was struck by a vehicle, which continued southbound on Georgia Ave at a high rate of speed. The Victim sustained a broken leg and a laceration to the head, and was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. Based on the vehicle parts left behind on scene, the vehicle is believed to be a Nissan Xterra pickup truck, model year between 2002-2004.

Shooting around 5th and Kennedy Saturday Night; Shot(s) fired around 13th and Randolph St, NW

K reported around 10pm Saturday night:

“2 shots heard and a guy running down 5th towards Kennedy St. Police are here.”

MPD reported:

“Shooting at 2143 hrs in the 5500 block of 5th Street, NW. No Lookout.”

Update from MPD:

“On October 14, 2018 at approximately 9:40pm, an unknown Suspect fired two rounds at the Victim from a passing vehicle. As a result, the Victim sustained a gunshot wound to the upper left chest. The Victim was transported to a local hospital and listed in serious but stable condition. The shooting appears to have escalated from a previous argument. No usable lookout at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact MPD at (202) 727-9099.”

Around the same time we received multiple reports of loud booms, “canons”, fireworks etc a bit further south in Petworth/Columbia Heights.

Sunday morning E confirmed:

“I thought the 13th and Randolph incident was fireworks but found a bullet next to my car this morning on 13th street“

Fish in the Hood so close to reopening!!

Fire struck Fish in the Hood back in April 2017. We’ve been watching eagerly ever since.

NBC Washington now reports:

“He’s making great progress toward a soft opening in just a few weeks with help from the community and a GoFundMe page that raised $8,000, but he needs about the same amount to finish the work and restock the fish case.”

Folks talking about the new brunch at Slash Run got me thinking – it’s time to talk the tastiest eats in Petworth circa 2018 (5779). We’ve documented the explosion of the food scene in Petworth over the years and I’m blown away by how many options there are now.
