From the folks at Three Little Pigs:

I have been working with Polyface Farm for turkey this Thanksgiving. The issue is that if I don’t reserve mine soon, they won’t have any for us. With it being our first year, its hard to gauge exactly what the demand will be. We are offering them three ways at different prices:

previously frozen (thawed by us) – $5 per pound

brined – $7.50 per pound

Brined and smoked over hickory wood – $10

We have options for several different sizes ranging from 10 pound to 20+, but the sooner customers reserve the better. There truly is a limited supply.

On a side note, we will also be doing fixins like stuffing, whipped potatoes, and the other usual suspects.

Back in early Aug. I asked folks what they’d like to see come to the former laundromat next to Red Derby after hearing a number of rumors. We’ve now got the answer – a bar called Lyman’s. The liquor license posted out front says it will be a:

“Tavern serving bar food with a seating capacity of 70. Occupancy load of 70. Requesting a summer garden with a seating capacity of 20 and entertainment endorsement featuring live music.”

The Washingtonian says:

The Raven Grill owner Merid Admassu is teaming up with Kevin Perone and Cafe Saint Ex’s Jessica Kleinmann on a tavern called Lyman’s at 3720 14th Street, Northwest.

There will be at least two pinball tables and a 20-seat heated patio with a retractable roof, a latticed privacy fence, and an indoor-outdoor counter so you can order drinks without having to go inside.

Updates as construction progresses. This could be an awesome addition to the neighborhood.

Shepherd and Georgia Ave, NW

More great news for Petworth this week – I’m told the long vacant “Goins Building” at the corner of Shepherd and Georgia Ave, NW has been purchased and will be redeveloped along the same lines of the building that was redeveloped at 11th and Monroe St, NW currently home to condos up top and The Coupe in the retail space. I’m not sure if the residential units will be rentals or condos but I’ll share more info as soon as I get it. I’m especially looking forward to hearing about the retail space which I hear could become a 4,000 square foot restaurant.

Stay tuned!

Dear PoPville,

I wanted to let you know that at 1 pm yesterday afternoon my husband was assaulted and mugged outside our house on Shepherd St. 1300 block. 3 teenagers surrounded him and puched him several times and shoved himto the ground, he got up and ran but they chased, ripping off his backpack. He then turned and chased them while calling the police. Bag was found by a worker in the alley but laptop was gone. I am so shocked and saddened by this violent act in broad daylight on a busy residential street in a neighborhood that i love so much. Residents should keep awareness up at all times i guess.
