“Member of the Fifth District Detective’s Office are investigating an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon that occurred in the courtyard of 1507 Benning Road, NE at approximately 1:30 am on the morning of the 14th. The victim and suspect were engaged in a verbal altercation over property, and the suspect produced a set of nunchucks and assaulted the victim. Anyone with information regarding this offense is encouraged to call MPD at 202-727-9099, or text the information to 50411.”

Update from the owner of All Souls:

“All Souls will be opening a new concept in The Apollo building on H Street, NE. The space will be located through the alley next to WeWork on 7th Street and will be called The Little Grand. While this is a new concept, we will not venture too far from what we do at All Souls, using the highest quality ingredients, maintaining affordable prices and trying to give the best service possible. The other similarity is The Little Grand will be a small, simple bar serving craft beer, cocktails, and wine but with the added bonus of pizza. Reported around 11pm:

“anyone else hear gunshots near 8th and G NE around 11:50 pm? Heard 2 rounds of 5-7 each and called MPD to report”

Survey says:

“I thought they were fireworks. Pretty regular pattern.”

“Same, it was fireworks. This is the 3rd or 4th time I’ve heard this over the past few weeks.”

Update: “All the desktops were stolen out of our lobby this morning… (this is with a key-card system and front desk staff watching the doors).”

“Dear PoPville,

I am the resident of a large apartment building in the H Street Corridor. When I signed the lease I was promised a tight-knit community and paid a hefty “amenities fee” ($700) for access to the building’s pool, gym, etc. (this is required).

Shortly after moving in I discovered that the building rents out apartments for the WISH Intern Housing program when I noticed all the expensive amenities being taken over by screaming, drunk college interns. After the interns seemed to disappear at the end of the summer, I noticed what appeared to be hotel guests with lots of luggage checking in at the front desk. (more…)

“seen in the old avery’s spot at 1370 h st ne– coming soon: Caribbean Citations. the tag line says “turn a traffic ticket into a meal ticket.”
