On Monday afternoon, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that starting at 10 PM, all restaurants and bars in DC would be temporarily closed for dine-in service. Old Europe is of course, no exception, so in order to ensure you can still get your German food fix, we are shifting to DELIVERY AND TAKEOUT SERVICE ONLY.
At the moment, the restaurant will be open for orders from a limited menu from 11 AM until 8 PM. As we announced in the previous email, delivery through us is FREE now with no minimum! “Dear PoPville,
My dog (Fern) was attacked by a very large Husky/Malamut named “Romeo” in Glover Park on Saturday.
Romeo, apparently, has attacked multiple dogs at dog parks in Glover Park and Palisades. I found this out at the Vet where Fern is getting stitched up and has a skull crack/fracture. (more…)

“Affectionately known to many simply as Mr. Karl, our hearts mourn the passing of Karl J. Herold who died peacefully on October 12, 2019, he had a long and successful life as Chef and Proprietor of the Old Europe Restaurant. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and many business associates.
Born in 1935 in Uder, Germany he eventually immigrated from Heiligenstadt, Germany to Washington, D.C. absconding East Germany to create a new life in his adopted homeland in 1960. (more…)
