Thanks to Callan for sending: “Welp. Saxby’s coffee closed on Vermont Ave downtown”
At first I thought it might just be a remodel but this location is no longer on their website.

Thanks to Gregory Hudson for sending word: “Oh uh, well that stinks.”
That was fast. Melt Shop (grilled cheese) opened in the former Energy Kitchen space back in Feb. 2015.

And before Energy Kitchen it was formerly home to Asian Bistro with one of our favorite typos of all time:

“Dear PoPville,
Last night a man on a bicycle was struck by a car at 13th and M Street NW around 10:15pm. After calling 911, a few of us gathered around him to do what we could until the ambulance arrived. One woman supported his neck, I held his hand, someone else checked his pulse and a few others offered any help they could. He was badly injured. I cannot stop thinking about him, and I just want to know if he is okay. I know this is eerily similar to the post you shared earlier in the week. If anyone knows what happened to him or how to find out, please share. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.”

“Dear PoPville,
Can you help me find witnesses to a crash yesterday? I was involved in a car/bicycle crash on 17th st. nw, between Pennsylvania and F. I was on my bike. Several people were on the sidewalk, but they were gone by the time MPD showed up. If anyone saw anything, I’d like to talk to them. [email protected]”

A reader spots this strange scene at 11th and M Street, NW.
Remember when they were falling from trees – well it’s hard to tell from the photo/video maybe there are some trees above?

Ed. Note: I love that three separate readers captured and sent us the shot above. Thanks to all. As since we’re in the season – if you catch a great duck scene or any greatness for that matter please email [email protected] or tweet us @PoPville Thanks!
Heidi writes this morning: “I think the ducks learned how to read.”

Finally. The Washington Business Journal reports:
“The owners of two New York City sports bars — Manhattan Proper in the Financial District and Proper West in Midtown — are bringing the concept to D.C. with Proper 21.”
You can see Manhattan Proper’s menu here. Stay tuned for the opening this Fall.

A reader reports:
“They updated Franklin Square today with red cafe tables and chairs. Great for the crowds that picnic there during lunch.
These tables were part of the NPS proposals for updating that park, it seems like they decided not to wait for the park renovation to add them.”
