“Dear PoPville,

Last night a man on a bicycle was struck by a car at 13th and M Street NW around 10:15pm. After calling 911, a few of us gathered around him to do what we could until the ambulance arrived. One woman supported his neck, I held his hand, someone else checked his pulse and a few others offered any help they could. He was badly injured. I cannot stop thinking about him, and I just want to know if he is okay. I know this is eerily similar to the post you shared earlier in the week. If anyone knows what happened to him or how to find out, please share. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.”

Way to be a good person. I hope if that ever happens to me while I’m biking in the city I hope someone like you is there. Praying for this biker!

My girlfriend and I were hit buy a driver at that intersection over 10 years ago. She was badly injured and somehow I narrowly avoided injury. The police gave the driver a nominal ticket and then never showed up to defend it so he got out of it completely. It took years to get his insurance company to pay and that was only after a private detective dug up some crazy dirt on the guy. Lesson I learned is that the police and the law favor cars and their drivers. I’ve never trusted the city since that incadent. I’m also very sorry to hear about this.

Hi – I’m very happy to have stumbled on this post today through a friend. I am the biker from this time/location who was subsequently transferred to the ICU at Howard U, then the ICU at Hopkins. No memories for 3-4 days. I am so appreciative to those who helped that night. I live close by the accident, but am still recovering (hopefully fully and in a short time) at my parents home in Baltimore. Thank you again. I hope I have the opportunity to thank you in person in the near future.

Oh my goodness. I am just seeing this. So many tears are brought to my eyes right now. I have not stopped thinking about you since that night but stopped checking this post after about a week. I am so thankful that you are okay. I have been praying for you and wish you a speedy recovery. Thank you so much for posting to share your recovery. I am in so much shock that you found this and replied and so thankful you are in recovery.
