“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District seek the public’s assistance in identifying suspects in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, in the 2800 block of 7th Street, Northeast.

At approximately 3:33 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located two adult male victims, conscious and breathing suffering from gunshot wounds. (more…)

“City-State Brewing Co., DC’s newest brewery and community gathering space, officially opens its taproom to the public Friday, June 4th.

The long-awaited homegrown brewery celebrates the District of Columbia in every way, from the beer, named after defining traits and historic moments like 8 Wards Independent Pale Ale and Lost Laws Pilsner, to the location, accessible by metro and the Metropolitan Branch Trail. The space includes an exhibit wall dedicated to the area’s culture and history, including 45 posters depicting DC neighborhoods by local artist Anthony Dihle.

“City-State is one big, heartfelt toast to DC,” said owner James Warner. “It’s a space that honors and celebrates everything unique about the District.”

The 13,000 square-foot brewery is housed in a former freight rail depot on the border of the Edgewood and Brookland neighborhoods. There is a taproom on site as well as an arts venue that will feature live music and an event space open to community groups. It will be open: (more…)

That stretch is so scary for pedestrians/cyclists (and even as a motorist when crossing Michigan). Cars come really flying down that hill. And the metro station and Turkey Thicket are right there, so lots of folks on foot. They need to do some real rethinking that road to make it safe.”

Update from MPD:

“Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a traffic fatality resulting from a traffic crash that occurred on Monday, March 1, 2021, at the intersection of 10th Street and Michigan Avenue, Northeast.

Preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 11:07 am, a bicyclist was traveling southbound on 10th Street, Northeast, crossing from the north to south side of Michigan Avenue, Northeast, in a marked crosswalk. Concurrently, the operator of a 2017 Ford Bus made a left turn from 10th Street to Michigan Avenue, Northeast, and struck the bicyclist. (more…)

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, in the 2600 block of 12th Place, Southeast.

At approximately 7:03 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located a juvenile male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 15 year-old Jamarid Robinson, of Southeast, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”
