DC Fire and EMS first reported at 4:14am: “Box Alarm 1500 block Monroe St NE. Fire showing 2 story house.”
“#DCsBravest are saddened to report that the victim of the fire in the 1500 block of Monroe St NE lost his life. His pet dog also perished. The thoughts and prayers of our Department are with his family and friends.”
“Update Working Fire 1500 block Monroe St NE. #DCsBravest have located a victim on the 2nd floor. Heavy fire knocked down. Still hitting numerous hotspots. No extension to adjacent homes.”
“Update Working Fire 1500 block Monroe St NE. Additional units are relieving #DCsBravest who engaged in the initial attack. Still opening up and exposing isolated pockets of fire. Investigators on scene to determine cause. Fire was prevented from extending to adjacent homes.”
