I witnessed a wheel theft in progress this morning in Shaw. This was shortly after 5am when I went outside with my dog. Two thieves dressed in black were in the process of stealing wheels from my neighbor’s newer model Honda. I stopped next to them on the sidewalk, (more…)

Update from a reader: “I was about 5 feet from the shooting in Shaw at 2pm yesterday. I had to run away and saw and heard bullets clinking off of metal. There was a car in the middle of the street that was shooting towards someone maybe five feet from me. I feel very lucky to be alive. Everyone crouched down and started running away. People were hiding behind cars. Running down the metro steps. Running down streets. I had no idea where to go. I didn’t know when I was safe.”

“Dear PoPville,

My boyfriend parked on Sherman Ave NW on Sunday around 4pm, across the street from the Shaw District Dogs. When we went to move the car today, it was completely wrecked. There’s a large amount of sawdust on the sidewalk and a cut tree up on the stone wall – technically on Garfield Terrace Senior apartments land. Did anyone take pictures of the tree on our car, or see what organization took care of/cleaned up the tree?” (more…)
