This afternoon (Tuesday) around 3pm I (a woman in my 20s) was walking in Shaw and was randomly assaulted by a man in the cross walk. Several bystanders came to help,
including one woman who let me get in her car to safety and some construction professionals who waited with me until the police arrived. It was really scary, but reminded me of how generous and kind most people are. I didn’t get their names, but wanted to thank the several people who helped me get to safety, offered medical assistance, and words of comfort.
And by the way, DC police have the suspect in custody.”
