dacha
7th and Q Street, NW

Update from Dacha:

“We are required to apply for change of hours for the license, but that does not mean the hours for the outside component of our operations will change.

The indoor component, which had no hours of operations previously, gets customary hours that we agreed upon in the last neighborhood agreement. The outdoor component – sidewalk cafe – will have exactly the same hours as it has now. This will be stipulated in the license when it is issued. It would be impractical (if not impossible) for us to apply for change of hours for the outdoor component because that would violate our agreement with the neighborhood.”

From a liquor license application change for Dacha Beer Garden:

“Applicant requests a Change of Hours of operation and alcoholic beverage sales and consumption.

CURRENT HOURS OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE SALES/SERVICE/CONSUMPTION

CURRENT HOURS OF LIVE ENTERTAINMENT

PROPOSED HOURS OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE SALES/SERVICE/CONSUMPTION

Other burger highlights include Spicy Jalapeno, Chili Cheese, Gorgonzola, Rise ‘n Shine (topped with an egg), and the BBQ Onion. Hot Dogs, Salads, Chicken Nuggets, and Sandwiches like the Chicky Chicky Parm Parm (crispy chicken & tomato sauce topped with fried mozzarella and melted mozzarella) round out the menu with sides like Fries, Onion Rings, and Tater Tots. Additional beverage options include the Tasty Bloody Mary (made with neighboring D.C. local business Bazaar Spices’ spice blend and Smoked Bacon Chipotle Salt rim), a Pickle Back (shot of whiskey & Tasty’s pickle juice) and the Shift Drink (Narragansett and a shot of Fernet Vittone), as well as adult milk shakes like the Grasshopper, the Monk (Melleti & green chartreuse), White Russian, Strawberry Daiquiri, and Pina Colada. SE

Fortunately this is promising kitsch. Brown killed Christmas (in a good way) at Mockingbird Hill – let’s see if he can own Summer at Southern Efficiency.

From a press release:

“Derek Brown’s Southern Efficiency is Spending the Summer at Camp Iwannawhiskey!

It’s hard to deny just how satisfying a dram is fireside, which is why for leading spirits expert and bartender Derek Brown, whiskey and camping go hand in hand. In honor of summer camp, Brown’s award-winning whiskey bar Southern Efficiency is inviting guests to take a nostalgic visit to Camp Iwannawhiskey this summer via its all new camp-inspired menu.

Southern Efficiency bar manager Paul Taylor and his team have crafted nine new cocktails appropriate for both the barstool and the campfire log, using ingredients like grapefruit-ginger cordial and toasted marshmallow syrup. The new adult summer camp-themed menu includes cocktails such as “Wet Hot American Sazerac” made with rye, pineau des charentes, dark rum, pineapple gomme syrup, Peychaud’s bitters and absinthe, and “Parents Weekend,” a mix of bourbon, Strega, coffee liqueur, cane sugar, lemon and egg whites.

“We love deriving ingredients and flavors from disparate places, whether that’s something we taste — a spirit or ingredient, or a memory,” Taylor says of the creative new whiskey-forward offerings. “This menu combines both and adds an element of whimsy to whiskey.”

Southern Efficiency’s Camp Iwannawhiskey cocktails are $12 each and will be available through September.”

Full menu after the jump. (more…)
