Been getting a lot of queries like this one from Ryan:
“I noticed the other night that they’re completely digging up the parking lot on Sherman. Howard has re-zoned a number of their properties along Sherman and I’m wondering if anyone knows whether they’re building here as well?”
And Brian notes: “This is is the lot where they’d park their beat-up Howard police cruisers.”
A reader reports from Georgia and Girard Street, NW around 8am though not clear when the shots fired actually occurred:
“5 cop cars. Street taped off, including a business across Georgia.”
Looks like at least 11 shell markings. Another reader reports:
“I heard about a dozen rounds fired overnight on the 700 block of Gresham Place. It’s currently closed as MPD is investigating.”

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting that occurred in the area of the 2300 block of Sherman Avenue, NW. An adult female suffered a gunshot wound to the hand and was transported to a local hospital with a non life threathing injury.

Man o man has this been a long time coming! The liquor license placard for Sister’s Mediterranean Corner Cafe posted at 2827 Sherman Avenue, NW says:
“New Class “C” Tavern offering Mediterranean food. The tavern will have 41 seats and a Total Occupancy Load of 41 inside. Sidewalk Café with 56 seats.”

“The Third District is currently investigating the sounds of gunshots in the area of Georgia Avenue and Hobart Street NW. Witnesses reported observing two (2) individuals in the area firing handguns. Officers have one adult male detained and a firearm recovered and are continuing to search for the second subject. There have been no victims located at this time.

“It was a very long process thanks to DCRA but we are finally opening on Tuesday April 10, 2018. Sweetpea’s is a small 12 seat restaurant at the corner of Georgia Ave NW and Harvard St NW offering southern cuisine, desserts and beverages.”

“A few weeks ago you posted about the Hilltop on Sherman Avenue becoming Napoli Pasta Bar. This week, I noticed that they were open so I tried it out. I was really impressed! The owner previously worked at Café Milano and Lupo Verde and you can tell that he knows his pasta! The pasta, charcuterie and cocktails were delicious and the staff was friendly without being pushy or intrusive. I never went to the Hilltop so I don’t know how many changes were made, but the inside is beautifully decorated. There is a table made out of a Vespa scooter with a working headlight, which is pretty sweet. The waiter said that they have a happy hour discount on their beer and wine. Oh, and there is free bread and olive oil! I am a longtime resident of Sherman Avenue and I am excited (and a little surprised) to see a restaurant like this pop up on our street, so bring your friends, bring your kids and check it out!”
