“SLASH RUN STAFF AND CONTRACTORS CAME TOGETHER AND WORKED THROUGH THE NIGHT 48 hours later we have the green light to open WE REOPEN TODAY! Come get a burger we missed you!!”

Tuesday afternoon DC Fire & EMS reported: “Update Box Alarm 200 block Upshur St NW. #DCsBravest have placed the fire under control with no injuries. Investigators on scene.”

Slash Run writes on their Facebook:

EVERYONE IS SAFE NO INJURIES
We will be closed temporarily until we get this all cleaned up and get the green light to reopen!
Small roof fire from replacing a portion the roof.”

DC Fire and EMS reported: “Structural collapse 14th & Shepherd Sts NW. significant collapse of corner building under construction. No injuries. Initial search negative. Request search K-9 for further search. Notifying @dcra @DC_HSEMA and utilities.”

Yesterday an ANC Rep asked MPD: “Can you share any information on the sounds of gunfire or shots fired around the 300 block of Delafield on September 5, 2020 around 10pm.”

An MPD Captain replied:

“On Saturday September 5, 2020, at approximately 10:00pm, Fourth District units responded to the 4800 block of 4th ST NW, in reference to a call for sounds gunshots. Upon their arrival they located several shell casing and 1 damaged vehicle. There were no reported injuries at the time.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to call MPD on 202-727-9099.”

Last night a reader tweeted us at 12:52 AM (technically Wed. morning):

Over 15 shots just heard around 5th and Delafield NW”

Loud explosions in Brightwood Park?

I am bewildered by the large bangs that I’ve been hearing over the last few (many? 2020 is a blur) months, here in Brightwood Park. At first, I assumed this was part of DC’s fireworks “season” but now I am not so sure. The explosions are so loud they rattle the entire house and they happen at all hours of the day. At the times when they happen at in the middle of the night – 2:00 or 3:00 am – I have rushed to the window to see absolutely nothing – no signs of humans or traffic or sounds or anything. (more…)
